Spire rewards

I took almost 13 months off starting a week or so after the spire was invented.
Also, it's not the 32 pieces that is impressive, it's the 9,8,8,7,0

Well some pieces are certainly more common than others, I guess the smallest ones are the most common ones, then again I suppose it depends how high you play the spire every week, that´ll influence how often you get which piece. For me it was the Moonstone gate that I got last and it took me like 2 or 3 month after I had all other pieces.

btw I didn´t say you had few pieces to criticize you, just to say that so few pieces does make it rather likely you´re missing one of them. Statistics works on big numbers better than on small numbers. And even though 9,8,8,7,0 is a little bit skewed, it´s not a big deal. it might even be more even that could be expected. It could just as well have been 0,1,5,10,16

Moonstone Gates and Endless Scrolls are always the trickiest ones. The two little ones come out of blue chests so those tend to be thrown about more. I haven't studied all the numbers, but it seems to me that there's more chances to win Libraries than those two middle ones.

As archmage im collecting data from my fellowship so we can get a clearer idea of what's going on......after all I could just be extraordinarily unlucky ;)

You have to be carefull, with a sample size of 25 the RNG is still random as you only get 1 shot a week.
The second issue is you have to divy up the results based on how far they get.

If you put the results of someone how reaches the top in the same pool of someone doing only 1 level you are comparing apples with pears and it makes no sense.
You either need to make pools of similar results, or have to divy up the rewards on a leveled scale.

example: reward gained 1st level, second level ect.

This way you can compare apples with apples and pears with pears.

all in all it's easy to get bad data, and hard to make sure you data is correct.

Yep. If looking at trends you would need to see data on at least 1,000 people who all went to the top before you even start to see the patterns emerging. I would say you need to look at over 10,000 people before you could think about pointing to it and saying that the numbers look wrong.

Yeah, yeah I know how stats work (I was a games manager at a casino many moons ago) but the thing is that if the 10 of us get 10 apples, saying that we got an average of one each doesn't do much for the hungry guy who didn't get one.
I had no problem waiting for my endless since I knew I'd get it eventually, but with the set being removed on beta my belly is rumbling;)

It also makes me think bigger picture and just how much of the game is/should be RNG-based.
Like a previous event where the best box for my desires was one with a 5% chance of 500 currency. I hit it 3x on one account and 0x on another.
Wildly different outcomes for nearly identical cities. I didn't like it.
I've seen ideas for a "Spire Shop" where you can buy the prizes for "Spire Essense" that you can earn up to 63 of per week.
I like that.

i like the idea of buying stuff with spell frags - have so many there is no can ever possibly use it all - so swapping for part of library etc. would be good.
I have the same problem with the endless scroll part of the set - very rare

With so many moonstone libraries around (for those of us that do this event hard/for a long time) perhaps its time to look at turning them into upgradeable buildings so that the ones we get from now on at least (if not those already in our bags) have value

Might also be time to do the same for the other moonstone library pieces.

What do you mean with that? You can upgrade any of those buildings already, just like any other event building...

I guess I mean evolves rather than upgrades. I don't know about you but there aren't enough restoration spells about to upgrade most things you might consider worth keeping and that would not do anything about the large number of moonstone libraries & bits that I have in my bag.

but yeah .. I think that would be a good change what's happening in the beta.

Hi @Herodite How did they respond? or am I too eager?

"Thanks for you suggestion, we´ll consider it."

It´s not like they talk to us, we talk to them through the guys and girls running this place here, but that´s as far as it goes.

Hey @Stucon!! I will chase this up for you to see if they've looked at this. I know they've been reviewing The Spire recently as there have been a few changes (which you're probably aware of already) so leave it with me to give them another nudge! :)
