I have heard of this problem happening a few times now, thankfully i was told about that quest by a fellowship member so i know not to sell my portal too early when i get to the end of dwarves. Maybe Inno should add a warning to keep the portal until told to sell it when yoyu build it.

Selling the previous portal is usually the first storyline quest you get after completing the scout research that starts the next host race...
