Buzzing Spring event (from Discord)

So there I was, buzzing along in this event and today I got to quest #38

Produce Simple Times 0/14 - simple enough
AND
Research Technology or Scout a province.

What happened to this idea...

A new questline approach!

Some of the quests have been tailored to fit player chapters. This means that players from different chapters will encounter different quests in certain places.
---------
I'm sorry, but who thought this a good quest for players who have finished the last chapter, plus completed all the researches long ago and when a Scout can take 4+ days and that's with a level 12 Scouts Tavern.
Surely you can not expect anyone too have to take 4 days in order to complete one quest!?

p.s excuse the pun in my opening line. I'll buzz off now. :)

I came here looking for the thread where we are discussing the current event and struggled to find it. Sign of the times.

So anyway, I was just going to say that there have been some really questionable quest requirements in this event. One that has popped up more than once has been a mandatory "upgrade a building to level 5". Yeah, I know we can just build up a few marble manus to level 4 and leave them ready, but this hasn't been done before because Inno (used to) realise that there shouldn't be mandatory quest requirements that wouldn't be pertinent to everyone. Anyway, that example isn't the big deal...

This is really the big deal. This is quest 38, I believe. For me this is now only two hours from completing, but I have so far been sat looking at this quest for more than 6 days. I think the same thing already happened on a previous quest.

As I said before, I'm not into all these bees and this month's grand prize. I suppose if I was then I could have used up massive amounts of time boosters to hurry it along. Perhaps that was Inno's intention. I suppose I sort of hope it was their intention, because the alternative is that they have recently put all the work experience kids in charge of event quest setting and that doesn't bode well. They have also recently been bringing back more and more quests that force more scouting and province completion. As far as I recall they saw the error of their ways regarding this about 5 years ago... But we have been regressing recently, it seems.

Todays daily prize is....wait for it now.....a 5% PP!!! I mean, my god, Inno have gone above and beyond with that generosity! I nearly died of excitement when I saw that for today! I cant wait to try and use as many of my event currency as I possibly can to get this fabulous prize!! Woohoo!!

In summary, I think this was one of the worst events that I remember. I know some of y'all love the bees, but there has been a definite shift where completing quests has become a lot more resource heavy. As I mentioned previously, I think the whole thing felt like a vehicle to drain down everyone's time boosters, amongst other things. I know that there has to be an element of that in all things that they give us, but this has now turned a corner. Being asked to either scout a province or complete a research is quite absurd, and it isn't much better being asked to build up buildings to level 5 to knock down again, amongst other things. Again, being asked to complete provinces is against what used to be Inno's advice and ethos about not over-scouting, but since a while ago that no longer seems to be part of the thinking.

To top it off, the event style was the shuffle board. Presumably if people finish all the quests and pick up all the extras, everyone will make the same progress through the event. There are ways to influence it, such as shuffling the board. I didn't once shuffle it, completed everything I could. The only other things I could have done are 1) bought the premium building that gives extra dropped currency, which is equivalent to 2) buying extra currency with diamonds, or 3) been given the bonus currency that presumably still comes with the newsletter. (That last one I am apparently still not allowed to have after all this time... ever.) So, those things aside, I made the exact efficient equal progress as anyone else did. And I finished 40 whole points away from picking up the last building of the set and 60 points away from getting the final portrait.

So yeah, I suppose it is what it is. Luckily I didn't want the set. But getting the full set seems to be something that must be paid for.

4) feed the "Funky Chicken" Phoenix
5) hope that RNGesus smiles upon you :)

RNG plays a role in the value of the event currency that gets dropped around the city and what you get on the board.
Not much one can do about the droppings but having a strategy for the board does help.

The point is that there's not all that much RNG with the shuffleboard. There can't be a strategy except don't shuffle if you want grand prizes. I guess maybe there may be differing odds of whether one of the windows reveals a plus 2 or a plus 3 points, and you can try to boost your numbers by hoping to land a x2 on one of those. this is a fairly remote chance and I don't believe you'll ever create more than an overall swing of 20 points with all the good luck or bad luck in the world.

As for the RNG affect of city pick ups, that's peanuts really. You need 25 'bonus' bits of currency just to give you one extra point on the board.

I still maintain that this event was not designed to be completed, unless someone has spent money and/or diamonds on it. It doesn't affect me because I didn't want those rewards and I am not even criticising Inno's strategy here. I am just highlighting what is happening.
