This Forum has never been representative of a majority of the players. While some of the thousands who have not signed up may read it, they prefer not to get involved in the flaming matches. @JackLuyt 's post earlier shows that a number of people actually like the new format, with a few reservations.

The forum may not be directly representative of the majority of users purely on the basis of the number of people who post here but it is certainly indicative of what the majority might think about various topics especially as there are a number of AMs posting that reflect the opinions of their fellowships. JackLuyt my have found a tiny handful of users who think the current event is OK but there's no doubt whatsoever that the vast majority hate it and I say that not based on the numerous postings to that effect here but on the basis of everyone I've chatted to or messaged on all 3 worlds.

I don't hate it and I think whingers are always going to be more vocal than people who are content.

I like a month long event being able to last a full month. I like that free players and not just premium ones can get multiple rewards.

There's stuff to improve sure. I think more attention should be paid to the fact many players don't have or need manufactories or workshops of the current chapter. But overall these endless quests are miles better than the "follow this crib sheet and you still won't be able to get the grand prize" that came beforehand.

5. I am really enjoying the event! Very relaxing; and one gets 5 - 10 quests done every day on average without any fuss and bother.
I am particularly enjoying the absence of ‘Upgrade x buildings to level y’ - I hope they will never return.
I am wondering what chapter this player is in. It makes a huge difference if a scout takes 90 minutes or if it takes 90 hours. It makes quite a difference if you can finish a research in a day, or in seconds if you have some SS research unfinished, instead of not having any research and having to come up with Vision Vapor quests, over and over and over again. Toolbox quests would be great if you have small workshops and don't get the same quest 3 times in a row.

I have had no positive reactions from anyone in my fellowship. Two of us started having relics quests as soon as the tournament ended. I'm on my third relic quest of the last 4. Neither of us have any scouted provinces left and neither of us have seen a relic offered in the crafting. I did not receive a single relic doing visits, which seems a bit odd.

So I've found a funny little thing out today and I thought I would share for those who haven't tried it:

I realised that today, with the daily prize being 30 x 1hr time reductions, that I'm able to complete quests using time bonuses and at the same time I'm gaining more than I'm losing. I'm opening the chests that are best for winning golden keys with the twist that I am always favouring the 85 chest. Doing this I'm picking up such a supply of 8hr and 1hr time boosters that I have collected 10 evolutions today alone without using a single diamond.

There is a downside in clearing the "9 x encounter" and the "11 x relics quests". You can't avoid using up troops or goods for those. Obviously on encounter quests I'm leaving provinces on 7/8 ready for a relics quest. I have had quite a big amount amount of goods available to begin with, but I still have more time boosters than I started off with, plus massive amounts of extra troops and marble. The only reason I'm stopping is out of boredom plus I don't think I would ever build the polar bear anyway. Having multiples of the same grand prize isn't my thing so I'm done.

So amongst all the negativity of this event I've quite enjoyed myself today with this little exploitation.

Well, my last 7 quests had 3x toolbox quests (5x each) - that's 360 hours of time boosts for 240 keys, not even counting other things. So there is that...

Pauly7

Yeah luck can count against you for sure, but I continued this collecting over 5,000 keys today* and I still have about 350 x 1hr boosts left.

[*probably a lot over. I'm not sure of exact numbers.]

First part of this is complete codswallop. Nobody, ever, who hoped their game would be popular, failed to put addictive elements into their game, though a few got lucky. The latter part is based on your somewhat one-sided assessment. This game does not hit you with fresh ads to make purchases every 15 minutes. It is possible for a non-spender to rank fairly high, (though most non-spenders are smarter than that, the ranking system IS a trap).
You're wrong on all accounts. Many of the most successful games of this era have no addictive elements shoved into them, because they haven't been "live services" and offered all the content in the game from the get-go, without asking the player for any further investment. As for this game not hitting you with ways to entice you into purchasing diamonds, perhaps you haven't noticed that virtually everything can be sped up with diamonds, the icon clearly showing, and that even troops lost after a battle can be magically revived with one single diamond-fuelled click. As for ranking, I've never talked nor cared about it. Tournament ranking is a whole different thing, and it's been proven time and over again that non-spenders can reach the top spots, so I don't see what your point is.

Which are practiaclly non-existant these days.
You might want to look harder.

It has been noticed that you refuse to keep your moutn shut, but you do seem to be fighting just about everybody.
Excuse me, are you suggesting me to keep my mouth shut? If my posts bother you so much, feel free to click the ignore button. Me not being a crusade doesn't mean I'm not going to stop coming here and discuss the game (which is very different from "fighting just about everybody" - nice attempt to slander me by the way, but that's simply not what I'm doing.[/QUOTE]

Never have I ever claimed it was. That doesn't change the fact that even in-game, the feedback I'm reading in chats and conversations is overwhelmingly negative.

So we should all go out and try this and it'll work for us too?

I can't say for certain because a run of bad luck could put the plan in jeopardy. I should also say that when I started I already had about 5 provinces open, plus I probably had about 10 x 14hr time boosters in hand, so that got me started. If you don't have something to get started then you may need to go through enough quests to win the 8 hr and 1 hr boosters several times over before you're rolling. Once I had my factory of completing quests and picking up time boosters going, though, it seemed fairly straightforward.

Maybe you should have kept that to yourself, If the devs see it they might remove time boosters as prizes from future events. We already know the devs don't want players having too many fully evolved main prizes lol :D

The post you are replying to there was actually aimed at me and most of the time i just take no notice of anything that player posts.

I've been keeping track of my quests after reaching 90th, the last quest segment and have some stats to share from the 214 quests I've done:
6IHk6JR_d.jpg

With this I've finished the second brown bear, so probably I can call the event a successful one for me. I hadn't used any diamonds, and only bought the event outpost, about which I regret since it doesn't make any difference on this scale. Despite the fact that the event resulted for me in a huge boost for my city, I really dislike it's design.
1) 3 out of for most frequent quests are the ones that may have a permanent effect for your city. I'm in the Elementals and will probably hit the expansion limit before the event ends. If the trend continues illI be massively overscouted in half a year.
2) It has been said many times before, but the quests are very repetitive. My "best" streak is 4 scouts in a row and if not for the time boosters it would be extremely hard to get anything that's really worth it from this event.
3) Workshops and manufactories requirements are a bad idea. I had to make a mess out of my city and went from zero workshops to 11 and soon 16 and from 2 manufactories to 11. Without the warning from beta I would be sitting for a week to even start the event.
4) Very related to the previous one, making us use our normal city production for quests is bad. I hadn't collected from my mermaids or manufactories for several days in case the production quests show up and I can't even imagine how hard this event is for someone who relies on the workshops for supplies.
5) The new requirements make you completely halt your city development. In previous events it was great to advance in chapter mid-event and start getting better prizes. Now I'm sitting at the end of the chapter for a week and will be for 11 more days, because the chapter advancement means days of upgrades to be able to continue.
6) This time your event performance is very dependent on your stocks of time boosters, goods, free space and population. Not to mention the willingness to destroy your city. Even at the previous endless event it was possible to do much without the proper starting conditions, but here I can't see one performing well without a lot of everything to begin with.

Overall the event doesn't make me hate this game, but I would definitely prefer to have fun during the actual event and not only when thinking that all this struggle would be beneficial for me in the future. I really hope that all these issues would be addressed before we start losing players because the event are as painful as the old FAs.

I'm not often been seen on the forum, not before this and probably not after.
I used to love playing elvenar, had 3 accounts, Zora Zandkorrel, Dinky2toy, and Segna and rather spend my time playing instead of talking about it.
I'm here now to spit out my annoyance about this event.
I used to love events, they were giving me a real adrenaline kick... I understand this event was designed to slow us back...
well... well done elvenar team... it works.
At the same time, it destroys the attraction of coming back to the game ... it's boring, demanding, not attractive at all.
Doing the same quest all over is not fun
Not being able to plan in advance and then have to wait endlessly to get a task done... not fun
It destroys all build up stocks of goods and boosters...
and on top of that all... the rewards are scarce.
for me, it comes down to the following...

another event like this and I won't be playing for the duration of it... lots of time to find other things to do, big chance I won't come back at all
not sure maybe that was the intention... elvenar having too many active players... time to get rid of some enthusiastic ones? Especially those who play tactics, think economic and winning lots of rewards

THIS, THIS right here sums it all up!!!!!!!!! I used to spend HOURS everyday here REEEELAXING and enjoying using my brain to problem solve my world, but even more so, the events. They were my second favorite part of the game after working with my fs's on the FA's. That has ALLLLL changed. This week, I have spent only a few hours ALL WEEK, not each day. I have dreaded going into my worlds and changing the quests. I know I could simply not do the event at all, but since that was one of my favorite parts and that leaves the FA's to look forward to, why stay in the game??????!?!?! I haven't even spent much time in chat with my worlds, which I also used to enjoy greatly, but being in my world and being STUCK by all the event mess is just depressing. I came here to relax and get away from the stress in the real world and now the best parts have been removed.

I am currently looking for other games like this out there that have fs's, FA's, and events like things USED to be here.. if anyone has suggestions, please let me know ;(

We can survive, friendship in the fellowships wins out, despite the horrendous situation currently with the event and the repeat/repeat/repeat.

Yes it causes me stress also which I don't need when I use the game to relax, especially after surgery last week.

Who said "oh no" if some players win too many prizes, can we not revert back to the 3 grand prizes system. That way it is capped, and players still spend diamonds to try and get their favourite daily prize.

Greed is killing the game, make it fun again and you will succeed INNO, a 99c app can make more revenue.

If you only want the Billionaires playing, make a separate world for them to compete with how much they can spend to be best, and let us loyal players continue to relax, enjoy being here and maybe pay a few $$$ now and again for that enjoyment. :)

I suggest "Premium World" where everyone has all the buildings, expansions and diamonds they want to build a world for around $50.000. Some will compete.

In my opinion the best way to make sure you maximise the number of times players keep coming to the game is to make it interesting and fun, reading this thread it would seem that most players find this event neither of those things.

Agreed and sounds like quite a few of us are on the way out the door now also. A few people buying diamonds occasionally might not look big, but when so many get frustrated and leave, it will had up and I think that concept is being ignored in hopes of.... well, that part I am just not even sure on anymore. ;(

OK, now THIS is a GREAT idea!!!! Just like a casino setup.. you have the 'average players' all out on the floor and at the 'penny slots'. Your HIGH ROLLERS have their own section and if you want to compete with them, you pay up and go on in.. This is a VERY addictive feature in casino's and feeds the need for those high rollers while allowing the 'normal folk' to enjoy their time at their own pace and spending their own (smaller amounts of course, but more of us) money.

Wow, that would be a great idea and could solve some of the issues because I am assuming part of the concern about 'fairness' has to do with people dominating events and tourneys and FA's in an unequal manner. BUT if all 'high stake players' were in their own separate section, then they would all be competing against each other and not the lower-relaxation players.

AWESOME idea there Martin!!!

Ok, I give up, this game just exploited me one last time, it is utter BS that the same quests repeat and now I wasted £20 as I am unwell and so I quit this farce.

I feel like I have been exploited for my vulnerability, way to go. You at INNO are treating players with ill health like something on your shoe or yellow snow.

A joke, please delete my city I give up.

sadly, i think I am following you out the door if you are going. I am keeping my cities a live for a while, but my heart just isn't here anymore.. if you find another game you like that is like this WAS as far as fellowships, FA's and all, please let me know.

FOMO

(Fear of missing out)

I am a victim sadly. :(

@Tropix please take time in future, I am very upset and an automated reply does not help me.
I know you are busy but see my request please. :)

Video games aren't meant to be addictive per se. Video games done right are addictive just like any other hobby or pleasurable activity, but don't use underhanded tactics to keep their players hooked. Good examples of this are games you pay for once and give you all the content they have to offer. Which can be worth hundreds of dozens of hours just to finish the game once, and some are so replayable it's not uncommon to see players pour hundreds and even thousands of hours of their time in a game they payed for once. Just once.
I'm not fighting anyone, I'm on no crusade - but I refuse to keep my mouth shut or lie by omission when discussing the game (which is what this forum is for). If you are so daunted by reading the same things over and over, other than perhaps asking yourself why that is, well... nobody forces you to read. Like nobody forced you to watch a video you clearly didn't watch, because it's either that, or you each and every of the points that were made in said video.

OK, also nobody is forcing you play this game. Why not play only games by companies you like?

I don't see this game the way you see it. I see it as a challenge on how to

- optimise the layout of my city
- progress through chapters and
- have a reasonably good ranking

with minimum purchases of diamonds.

It's a game of optimisation of resources and money is one of the resources. Before I spend money, I first check do I need that extra expansion, magic building or event building, and if I see that I do need them then I go for it. Not because of FOMO. I use the elven architect app to plan my city. I have spent much more time on elven architect than in the game in fact.

That being said, I am happy with my current ranking, with 125 expansions and 11 magic residences and no magic workshops I can meet the needs of my city, have plenty of space for chapter 15 and population to do all upgrades. There is no FOMO involved here. Just good planning ahead. And it took me less than 2 years to finish 14 chapters. Sorry (but not sorry) that I have to spell it out and for bragging here. Big thanks to the developers of elvenstats and eleven architect!
