Answered Are Troops Necessary?

Is there anything in the game (besides quests) that requires you to have troops to fight with, or could I get away with demolishing my military buildings to make more space for culture and manufactories?

Hi Lorhin,

There has been a good airing of this topic which can be seen here.

What it boils down to is that you can sell your armouries and stop upgrading your barracks if you are not going to use battles to win encounters. However, you are currently not able to sell or downgrade your barracks. In addition, depending on where you are in the tech tree, not upgrading barracks may prevent you seeing further progress in the Main Story Questline.
