Here is the reply given by Muf-Muf, community manager:

We're aware of this issue happening and hope to be able to offer a solution soon. Unfortunately there is no workaround for this issue, but we did notice that sometimes the notifications are available again after some time. We apologize for the inconvenience this issue's causing, and ask for your patience while we're working on resolving it.
