you get magic ingredients by picking them up on the outside of your city, by completing the quests or you can buy them using diamonds

And by checking your e-mail for an "Elvenar Newsletter" message, which might or might not have arrived.

And, when picking up from outside your city, you can buy (with diamonds) the Magic Mirror (?) building that gives extra ingredients per pickup.
And, when completing Quests, you could feed Pet Food to an Ashen Phoenix, which gives extra ingredients per Quest.
