Camping on Elementals chapter

Raghalthor

Spellcaster
Hi all,

I just wanna know ppl opinion about this.
I was looking through the chapters ahead(woodelves now) and it seams to me like Elementals is the last fun one.
After I finish it, I'm planing to sell all the chapter bldg and create a FA kind of city, while focusing on my army aswell, to do above average in tourneys.

Any thoughts?
Thanks.

If you want to be in the best position for tournaments then you should move onto chapter 15 and play it about halfway through until you unlock all the 3 star Merc Camp troops. There's quite a long road in front of you to get there though.

I didn't built my merc camp as yet.
I found no benefits for doing so.
At first the troops made there are specialists and kind of bad for fights.
By the time I get 5* troops, like you said, I need to go ahead a lot of chapters.
Meanwhile the normal barracks provide full 4* troops that help me handle tourneys very well. Plus, hanging on into one chapter, will give me a lot of resources to spend on catering, as I won't need resources to upgrade anything.
Atm I have around 20 tourneys provinces and I only go though half, fighting.
No catering because its a waste of resources, as my FS gets the 10th chest open at this stage.
I'm usually on top 3 even so.

By 5* I mean "5 attack swords on enemies" icon, etc.

You can play this game at any speed you like. Standing still is quite fine too. You have thought about it I think and the dynamics involved in not progressing further, but still enjoying all the other aspects of the game. O, I can tell you how I would do it, but in the end it is still your game to mold to what you would like to do, irrespective of what any of us say. :)

By doing above average in tourneys you mean relatively to your fellowship members? Just like you are doing now? If that’s the case, than stop or don’t stop whenever you want. Your current results are quite easily possible in any chapter for you now.

If you mean something else, it would help if you specify your goal. Only then can you get relevant replies. Honestly my initial reaction to your above average tournament results would be very similar to Pauly7’s.

Nothing wrong in not wanting to continue on through more chapters.....if you rather want to focus on FA's, Spire and Tournaments then personally I think that is fine......most fellowships out there really are only concerned with these aspects of the game anyway so you shouldn't have any problem with that.....as you say, later chapters are not that fun but they are more challenging which is why some people keep on doing them....me personally, I have 1 city that I stopped doing chapters(chapter 16 was my last) and my other city I'll keep going for the challenge

Fair enough.
So at the stage I am in, woodelves, I fight 10 out of 20 tourneys provinces.
I cater some, in case I need some more KP.
I get in the high 3k points, sometimes 4k, like I mentioned, if I go for some extra KP to move faster through some tree research.
And yes, the above average was compared with the members of my current FS.

So a question would be:
If I stay at this chapter now, maybe I'll get 5k tourney score.
Does this mean, that is top I will ever do? So if I choose to continue through the chapters, I can get higher scores?

Yes untill the point paule explained you can get better scores, but there are also other things you can do.
Limit your wonders to just a few important ones, and another key trick, dont use any more expansions and challenge yourself trought the chapters with as little expansions as you possibly can.

I know about AW levels and expansions and all that.
I'm doing exactly that at this stage.

But all of that, just makes fighting harder, and catering more expensive...I don't mind that if I'm standing still. I won't need stuff for something else anyway.
I'll feed my bear to create more troops, fire chick to get attack bonus...
And all my other resources are made for spending on catering what I can't fight.

What am I missing?

Lol, you are asking for it. I read, FA, so here comes for FA. I see you are woodelves. Woodelves is a good place to stop as your T1 manu upgrades in that chapter, so your bracelet requirements will be the lesser of the chapters that you do have that range of manus. Upgrade those manus to max and go for at least 10 of them.

You can still open up provinces to enable you to have more provinces to do for tourneys, so yes, your tourney scores can still increase. Your cost for opening up the provinces will just keep on increasing as you do not have advanced scouting research that will reduce it a bit. You are past the orc barrier, so you can scout till the costs are more than the max coin capacity of your main hall. Just do not place the expansions that come from opening up provinces, as that will impact on your cost for spire and tourney.

Forget about keeping the daily kp bar at zero. Let it pile up, or implement a reward system in the fellowship where you can distribute some of it. You can add some of it to an AW, but time to think about which AW you do want to upgrade and for what reason. Same applies to any kp you may get from tourneys.

You can still do events. I would keep scouting and opening up provinces for events.

You do not need to keep your city all the time in its FA cloak. Depending on the number of teleports you have, you can put up other buildings in the space you would reserve for FA buildings.

If you want to look at other cities that play at that level, you can pm me in game.

For fighting, craft the helper buildings when you see them in the MA. Using those and the Dwarven Armorer, from spire, also helps with troop losses.

What am I missing?

What you are missing are 2 things
  • The best units in game
  • timewarp wonder which allows you over time to use double the combat buildings each week in the tournaments / spire, this vastly increases your combat power.

Thanks for this CW, but for what I am planing, this will not impact me that much.

Like I mentioned, the merc camp is not worth it for me ATM. If I get to ch15, where I get all 3* merc troops, maybe that's when my merc troops are actually worth it.
Now, I'm only speaking from knowledge gathered from forum posts, because I haven't played the game before.
But ranger and toad are the best troops from merc camp. And exactly those are last to be evolved to 3*
So for me to plant merc camp, upgrade it, and waste supplies for specialised 1* troops, does not make a lot of sense.
Because I have 3* barracks troops that do a better job than 2* merc troops.
I only autofight....just to clear that too, in case you were wondering.

Now about the timewarp AW. It will make no difference to me, as I always manage to complete all tourneys provinces in the time given.

In my human city I survived very long without Merc Camp. Basically until that 15th chapter where I finally leveled up Rangers and Frogs. And I’m quite content with this decision, even though already 2* units would have been very usable. Now I’ve got even 4* Crossbowmen (human barracks LM unit) and my 3* Rangers usually still outperform them.

In my elven city I built Merc Camp immediately just for 1* Blossom Mage unit. To avoid getting a warning from mods, I’ll stop writing now and won’t comment on elven barracks mages.

When the military buildings shared a single training queue I also didn't build the Merc Camp, because I didn't really see the need for it. Knowing what I know now, even if we had that shared queue again I would now still build the Merc Camp straight away. Even at 2 star the Rangers, Blossoms and Frogs are really useful (especially so if you are an Elf). When they reach 3 star they are the best three units in the game and you can use them for most of your combat.
