Question Worth of Power of Music Ensembles

My ensembles don't appear to be of any benefit to me.
I create bars using Portal Profits.
I have 3 of each atm but I have decided that I will not be completing the tech quests any further.

Any reason that I can't transport them to my Inventory?

Yes you can transport them. Their only use (if you're not making bars) is to upgrade the portal. If you have the Vortex at level 10 (I think, since the AW changes - was 14 before that) then you don't need to upgrade the portal to level 4 to complete the tech tree. But if you're not going to upgrade the portal, why not just sell them and save the teleports.

Upgrading the portal gives access to another type of song which is cheaper to produce and takes 3 hours instead of 4. I haven't done the sums but it's possibly cheaper and quicker to do it that way. You can make the additional ensembles one at a time and store them till you have enough, then make enough space to bring them all out, start the upgrade, and then delete them.
