Question WORKSHOP OPTIMUM

Only started Elvenar about 6/7 weeks ago and was wondering, for the elf cities, how many workshop would be best? I realise its probably a "how long is a piece of string" question but would appreciate peoples suggestions....

It's a matter of balance. Start with 6 and upgrade them every time is possible. If you are short of population, it means you need either more residences, either less WS or manufactories.

As a rule of thumb, if you find you're constantly running out of something and waiting for more to be produced (coins, supplies, goods) then you need more of that particular building.
Have a little bit more than you need but not a huge number more, space is valuable.
As Alcaro said, keep them upgraded. It's difficult to catch up when some buildings are a few chapters behind.
