After seeing @OldHag's comment about their troops going AWOL, I had a quick look at the spreadsheet to see if the bulwark had been nerfed. It hasn't, it actually got a bit of a buff.
I had a look at my own bulwark and now I'm thoroughly confused.
I've got 2 armouries that give 560 training size each and 2 garden stones which each add 72 ( or 78, can't remember).
How is the training size calculated?
The Sapiens shouldn't affect training size as it just adds more for free when you collect. As far as I understand.
Any dumbed-down explanation would be most welcome
