Question Enchanted buildings in inventory

If an enchanted building gets teleported into inventory, does the enchantment remain active for when it gets placed back in the city?

Actual scenario:
I had a chap18 magic workshop with +400 days of PoP spells in my city.
Also have a second one in inventory.
I teleported it for some temporary space but on it's return the enchantment was no longer active.
Either the enchantment disappeared in inventory or the second WS came back instead of the first one.

Note to Mods: I'm not looking for a PoP spell refund, just curious where they went

Edit to add, if I'd known I would probably have chosen a building without +400 days of enchantment
