New Game Features Spire of Eternity - What It Could Have Been

So, having just seen that awful mess that is the Spire of Eternity, I thought perhaps I can contribute in more than just plain criticism...

Instead of fighting or diplomacy both of which are hideously costly, it could have been an exploration or expedition where you send off a team into the Spire for some time, say, 9 hours, 1 day, 3 days or 5 days. Each time tier offers different sets of probabilities, rewards like the ones offered in the Spire now, and at the end of it you are rewarded a random prize.

So first, the content creators in the team can spec up each battle unit present and create a "Hero", for example Ephraim the Sword Acrobat Maestro (shameless plug-in of myself...) Everyone gets at least this Hero. Unlocking, through research, the recruitment option for the other units opens up the recruitment of their Hero counterparts. These heroes are specifically for the Spire only and not for regular combat.

Possible list:
  1. Ephraim the Sword Acrobat Maestro / Storm Barbarian Chief
  2. Julhor the Elite Archer Captain / Veteran Master Crossbowman
  3. Meowuka the Evergreen Bud Sorceress / Roma the Enlightened Sacred Priest
  4. Truper the Elder Treant Patriarch / Holy Blessed Paladdin
  5. Regalis the Granite Golem King / Rad Mortar Specialist
  6. Fenris the Sinister Cerberus Alpha
  7. Valerie the Poison Dryad Queen
  8. Janbee the Eternal Ghastly Banshee
  9. Nicell the Gruff Orc Warrior Chieftain
  10. Myrmi the Senior Orc Strategist Commander
  11. Sophia the Venom Drone Rider Captain
  12. Riya the Crown Blossom Princess
(FYI, the names used are members of the Fellowship I'm in...)
(Also, since the third tiers of Ranger, Faineant Frog or Valorian Guard hasn't been introduced yet then I'll leave that for now...)

So,
To go on an expedition, you need to have unlocked at least up to Treants. Much the same way resources are used for Spire diplomacy, to recruit a Hero to go on an expedition requires resources as payment.
Each new expedition refreshes the cost for recruitment.
Each Hero has attributes that boost a certain probability for a specific reward.

The tier of reward is dependent on the length of time for each expedition.
Perhaps,
  1. 9 hour expeditions have a chance for Coin Rain, small Time Reduction spells, or a very small chance for the 1x1 Spire set building.
  2. 1 day expeditions would reward Supply Instants, Supply production boosters, or a very small chance for the 2x1 Spire set building.
  3. 3 day expeditions can earn you Catalysts, Spell Fragments, event buildings or a small chance for the larger Spire set buildings.
  4. 5 day expeditions perhaps give you a small chance for some Diamonds, AWKP instants or a definite chance for the larger Spire set buildings.
After an expedition is completed, the Heroes sent will have a cooldown period before they can be sent away again. The longer the expedition they are sent for, the longer the cooldown.
The returning heroes earn a piteous amount of XP, accumulating them to a cap after which they level up, raising their attributes incrementally.

I hesitate to suggest adding an item like Evolving Building Artifacts for the sake of levelling Heroes but I suppose perhaps these Hero Artifacts are rewarded in the Spire equivalent of a Mystery Chest...

You guys the development team must be asking: where's the profit in this?
Well, the cooldown for each Hero can only be shortened with Diamonds maybe, AND/OR introduce another Spire-specific spell: the Item Chance Reducer, that on each cast reduces the probability (by 2% for instance) of an item offered in the reward chest of your choice down to a minimum of 5%. The spell of course would require Diamonds to make.
(Obviously the missing 2% would be split between the other two reward options.)
Perhaps, you can also introduce a system where you can borrow a Fellowship members Hero (one that you want because their specific attributes increase your chances for that reward you wanted). Evidently to borrow you must pay Diamonds to recruit them...

In summary,
the pros are, it would be a new mechanic that is less tedious - borrowing more from the regular production style, it would mean less fighting, it would be available even to newbies - affording beginners helpful boosts and stuff to ease their journey and lastly it wouldn't feel like you are basically doing another Tourney.
the cons? It'll mean a total revamp of your current Spire system. Head-to-toe, complete rewrite. Which is I imagine, devilishly difficult... I'm open to hear what other cons you can think of of course!

Basically I spent the better part of three hours drafting this because I know that Elvenar, that InnoGames, is really great and I have faith that this is possible.

What do you think?

I love the 'Hero with specialized contributes' and the 'hands-off, labour abated' aspects of this idea. Kudos on all the hard work you put in to this draft, Ephraim Heart!
At this point, I'd be happier if the cost to play the Spire were affordable and reasonable. I will not play as is. Also, the minute chance of winning the Moonstone Library is a kick in the teeth. I assume a 'definite chance" to win it would be more than 10% at some point in the expedition/s.

A lot of good ideas. The spire is pretty boring as it is and most can only do the bottom half anyway.

I have completed every spire to the top since it's introduction, I have won 4 premium residence, 5 premium workshops and 6 genie, now earning enough diamonds to make expansions at the 5K level, so I love the spire, just learn to play its games or ignore it. :)

You're really lucky @m4rt1n. I've done every one too (at least the first two levels). I have won 3 Genies and zero magic residences or workshops.

Sorry I keep banging on about that, but increasingly frustrated.

That being said you've won 5 magic workshops out of 12 chances with a 5% shot each time. That's incredible.

Ditto, since the first day, and at first, all three floors.

Yes, please, leave the Spire alone. I won four sets, plus extras, plus nine m residences, and four m workshops (one genie too. but recently.) While a great suggestion is not nice to change it as it is now. Also, Elvenar is not a "hero" type of game. If you introduce heroes, you will need to change many game mechanics.

Ditch the hero thing, you can send troops and orcs for an expedition/rally/exploration, adding if you want blessing spells with mana, and healing with seeds, for example. We can call it, the underground of the Spire. This way, you do not ruin the Spire as is. Here, you can send a few different expeditions, and yes, maybe get some prizes,

Law of Attraction my friend :) It works with the event chests too (but not with the lotto haha.)

Stop saying you don't win them, as it is what you will continue to experience, while others like @m4rt1n and me (and many others I've seen here) pile up more and more spire sets in the book. I do not even go after them anymore, and each week at least I get a 1x1 minimum and mystery 2-7 chests. I do 1st and half 2nd floor now that I do not need for Magic WSs, and at least one is purple, and two golden. Sometimes only first floor, as I go with the FS since they introduced this new thing. Otherwise, I would have finished the Spire, as I got more than what I wanted (and hate to see Spire sets rotting in the book, but I have four sets out alreadt, plus extra scrolls and trees/plants.)

Maybe I am the unluckiest :( I haven't even won a mystery chest yet.I haven't won a diamonds when I set up Wishing wells(20) in the dwarves chapter(FYI,I have paused for FA in the Sorcerers & Dragons)

I highly doubt that :p Both on the chests, and the wells :p If it would be true, I would contact support... it's not normal.

Should I? I mean a recent incident happened so I am not sure I would.

It's random chance @AstralSoul. Sorry, but it isn't some spooky power of positive thinking.

Spire sets have nothing to do with it. Most people have tons of them.

Spooky? The LoA is proven scientifically, but keep feeling that please, more for us (physics will do the rest.)

I know in the end is all code, I know how to code, actually, a few languages, however, some visualization helps, and its free!

Nothing about so called Law of Attraction has any scientific basis, let alone being "proven"... but I'm not going to go down this road any further.

Is either that or "the code loves me", which makes no sense at all :) But yeah, not here to talk about LoA :) I will keep getting Magic Workshops, and spire pieces in the Spire instead :)
