Question Problems with being on the edge of the map

I'm mass-inviting new players to make a learner fellowship.

The first problem with attrition is probably being caused by android apps not showing a blinking light on fellowship chat or the email. There is possibly a language barrier on some percentage of non-responders.

As an "archmage", you have no idea what trading conditions are going to happen as you attempt to teach trading boosted goods. Even I don't know what's going to happen if my handy high rank trader disappears.

There is also a mythology going round that Elves produce marble, and Humans produce steel.

There's also a problem that when you google information, you either get elvenarchitect or outdated information on this forum.

When I first started trading, it irked me that I was dependent on favours from old players, just doing supportive trades.

It doesn't feel right that the most helpful information I can give recruits, is to go away and get handouts from old players, in old fellowships. But I can't tell them that anyway, because the email red dot isn't big enough.

This won't help with the lack of traders but I do find a lot of new players/small cities tend to place too many small trades rather than a couple of bigger ones. Instead of a few 2000 goods trades there's pages and pages of 100 goods trades. So they end up not being taken because it's a pain clicking them all. Advice I got from an older player was "don't be afraid to put up big (for me) trades, someone will take them".

Yeah, it seems to be an obsession with some. I haven't got time to click through 60 tiny trades, so I ignore them all. It's a pity that they clog up the Trader lists though.

I try to take all the trades in my trader that are 1,000 or under. The clicking does not take but a millisecond on the app.

They have no choice. I'm playing a small city now, and I know what I'm doing, so I'm really fast on the goods route. The other players load up with armories and have no space, because the Magic Academy takes half of it.

The trader is clogged with exclamation marks and no players to trade with, except those playing the game badly, or going to Candy Kingdom King Squash with Rocks.

Takes them a while to work out what the trader fee is, and when it's being taken. I'm not even sure how I figured it out.

It would be a real shot in the arm for the game to get rid of the trader fee, so people can reach past all the dead cities. Old players hardly notice the trader fee. It's just out there on the event horizon.

I will always try and support new players in or out of my FS.. I was extremely grateful for any help I received when starting out and am paying it forward, even it is like click, click, clicking, forever which I don't mind really.

I agree with your sentiments @Lady K, but it's still helping if we take one of their trades for 6K, instead of them making us bang away at 60 trades for 100. Consideration cuts both ways. :)

There's a problem with not knowing convention. When they place small trades, they think small players will pick them up. But you've got no control over who buys. I've placed a lot of small 2-3k trades, with minimal success at getting them to small buyers.

You sometimes get quests in events that say to accept x number of trades posted by other players. In some fellowships, members post lots of small trades just so that others in their fs can do this quest easily. That obviously doesn't explain the whole amount of small trades that appear, but it does account for some of it.

I don't care the size of the trade, but it does have to be at least a 2star. It doesn't take a minute on a desktop and I check my trader a few times a day. I think it helps and encourages new players and every now and again you get a nice thankyou mail. ;)

It they're under 1,000 I take them all. I don't care if they're zero star. It makes no difference to me.

That wholesaler is the worst criminal. Take him away and throw away the key.
Why? All my goods come from the Wholesaler.

Similarly, there are tasks to post x number of trades, so I'm going to post 10x 1k trades not 1x10k
(don't get rid of these! They're nice easy ones :D )

Make sure to use your Fellowship 'Overview' to let smaller/newer players know how you can help them (ie. 0 star trades up to 8:1 ratio) and try to arrange these while both of you are online, that way you avoid poachers.

Also we have a Chapter 11 player who keeps on flooding the Trader with 2K trades. I have given up on this click-bait to stave off the RSI and on trying to educate them.

Thank God I have found a kindred spirit. :)
