Question Problems with being on the edge of the map

I created an account which is on the top right corner of the map. Maybe I can cope with the trade problems by utilising friendly archmages, but how is the problem of purchasing provinces at all fair, if two-thirds of the cheap provinces aren't there? I created a fellowship for training, and noticed that three fellows are in the same problem, right next to me.

I would expect you to be moved just by being active, I was when new. If not I wonder if Support can help in this matter?

That's what I thought, but obviously I'm right next to others who are being active. One's in League of the Lost, and next one in inspired Tower toppers.

That's all very well in theory. My main city is fine. My small city has been in operation about 4 or 5 years, has never been moved and is largely in wasteland with no neighbours.

I was once stuck in the middle of an area full of empty cities. I was there for many months, and trading was almost impossible (my fellowship members didn't trade much). I asked Support for help and they said that they couldn't do anything. I just had to wait for the game to decide to move me. I think I was like that for almost a year.

Best thing to do here is raise a Ticket with Support and get us to take a look!

If you're a rather small city (newly started) it may take the World Map algorithm a few weeks to find the best area for you! But we'll take a gander :D

Kind Regards

Herodite.

It would probably move if you shut down for a week, and kept an eye on it from another account. I shut down mine for maybe a month, but the data got deleted. No big deal, since I only had 500. Now I'm up to 4500 in a week.

The provinces seem to be expanding into the wasteland. I didn't realise that would happen.

What if your small city is 4 years and 11 months old? I would raise a ticket, but I feel like the likely thing is that I will shut this city down sooner rather than later. Anyway, it has been a looooong time since I heard anyone announcing that their city had been moved. A few years ago it used to be a regular occurrence.

This was a HUGE problem for one of my friends who recently started playing. Her city was in a place with literally no active people for many weeks. So she couldn't do any of the basic tasks to progress easily - eg buildings required some non-boosted goods, but the only way to get them was make her own manufacturers as there was no-one to trade with and she was too new to join our fellowship yet so we couldn't help her.

Seriously, no wonder there's a huge attrition rate for new players - she was not having a good time!
If she hadn't joined with existing friends, she'd absolutely have left

Ofc she also lost out of all the reciprocal neighbourhood help etc.

She wrote a lot of messages asking for help but apparently there's nothing to be done apart from wait for the algorithm to kick in.

It seems sad to me that some fellowships set a minimum size for a city before you can join them. This contributes to the problem suffered by your friend.

It is because you can't join a fellowship anymore whilst you are in the first couple of chapters. So if you are stranded in no man's land there is no way you can get the goods you need to progress further.

Thanks, I didn't know that. Is it new? What a stupid rule! It's when you're in the first couple of Chapters that you really need a fellowship. That's when you get advice about future city layouts, what's worth doing, what not to waste, and all sorts of tips. It's like Inno wants newbies to fail!

New-ish. Take a look at the research tree. There is now a "Fellowships" research.
Thanks. I see it now. It's right near the beginning of chapter 2, and so not as bad as I feared. I knew that some of the early research tree items had changed, but I didn't know about this one.
