What are the advantages for resetting perks

...you can redistribute the points tactically... you only need the two archive perks in the moment, when new points are saved - i.e. when the fellowship winnings are paid out in the tournament or spire - because the points are retained and can be used even if the archive is smaller than the saved points...
...always at the beginning of a month you get a new free "reset", so after the last payout of a month you can reduce an archive and in the meantime put the experience points into the KP-Perk, for example, and then restore the archive with the new "reset" of the next month, before the next fellowship payout is due...
..in this picture we reset the tournament archive at 0, but we still have 2500 points saved...
...after spending 10 in current tournament, we still have 2490...
...(the right button is gray because I wasn't a mage there and therefore couldn't deposit anything)...

As @Romilly says, you can change which area you would prefer to build up with perk points. You may want to do this if your FS has contributed perks to one of the archives, but then decide that another archive should be grown first, in order to get 'better' advantages.
In my FS we had already decided which archives were more important, so now we only have Knowledge Sharing to complete. For us this was the least valuable archive.

I have no idea about resetting perks! We have 3 at max but don't really want to upgrade the last one. What effect does resetting have on our saved points for our favourite 3???

...the points of both archives will be saved and are still available in the next spire/tournament...only the archmage can reset the perks...

Also if I reset do the "perks" themselves revert to eg: we currently have 10KP a day from the Knowledge perk...would that go back to 1??
I'm not at all clear what advantage comes with resetting. Perhaps it's me dim!

...no - it don't work for the KP perk - only for the two archives...but of course you can fill the KP Perk again after the reset - so you will have the 10 KP on the next day as usual...your collected/used experience points for the perk levels will all be saved and you can distribute them new...

Not much when you've got 3 perks maxed. It's useful when the levels are low and you want 'test' one of the perks at a higher level.
If, for example, your perks are at levels 5, 5, 5 and 5, you could reset them to levels 3, 3, 4 and 10.

..In principle correct, but it doesn't work that way, because higher levels require much more experience points...
...To bring a single perk to level 10, you need 475 k points - to bring all 4 perks to 10, you need 25 M points...
...this is the formula for cost increase
...add your current fellowship level with the existing stars of the perk and then multiply it by 25 k and you'll have the cost for the next star...

I haven't used the 'reset' but as it's been explained to me, when you reset the perks, all values go back to L1. So your Knowledge Sharing perk at L1 would then give you 1 x KP.
After 'Reset all' you would need to reassign perk points to your chosen Perks Archive(s).

...the Fellowship Level will go back to L1 - all perks will have 0 stars (-->0 KP)...the highest Fellowship Level is 41...I've reset several times in the beginning...you can reset one time per month for free - the next time it'll cost diamonds, but you get another free reset at the next month...
