Question Paladin squad size

Dugal

Dreamer
Hi, very new to the game so forgive me if my query is a little basic.

I started playing about 3 days ago; and was enjoying my progress, romping through combats with my axemen, crossbowmen and paladins and thinking I'd finally found a game with combat suited to my 79 year old reflexes, until I found myself with no paladins left and very few other troops. I spent a day belatedly manufacturing goods and training more troops (but no paladins) and eventually recommenced combat - only to find that although the squad size for my axemen and crossbowmen is 36, for paladins it seems to be only 6 - needless to say I got trounced. I've tried to find out how to increase the squad size for the paladins but can't find out - can anyone help?

There are less heavy melee (paladins) per squad then there are light melee or light ranged. So don't be perturbed by seemingly having less numbers. A squad is a squad.

(Also, welcome to the game).

To upgrade Paladins in Elvenar, you need to focus on upgrading your Armories, as they determine the number of Paladins you can train and their effectiveness in battles. Additionally, ensure you research the necessary upgrades in the military technology tree to enhance their capabilities.

Paladin Upgrades in Elvenar

Overview of Paladins

Paladins are a military unit in Elvenar, classified as a light melee troop. They are known for their balanced attributes, making them versatile in battles.

Upgrading Paladins

To upgrade Paladins, players need to focus on the following aspects:
  • Armories: Upgrading armories increases the number of Paladins you can train and their effectiveness in battle. The level of your armories directly impacts the squad size and production cycle.
  • Squad Size: The squad size for Paladins is determined by the researched upgrades in the game. Each Paladin occupies a size of 6, meaning that if your squad size is 72, you can field up to 12 Paladins.

Strategies for Effective Upgrades

  1. Focus on Armories: Prioritize upgrading your armories to enhance your Paladin production.
  2. Balance Upgrades: While upgrading Paladins, ensure that your other military units and buildings are also upgraded to maintain a balanced army.
  3. Resource Management: Keep an eye on your resources, as upgrading requires significant amounts of goods and coins.

Conclusion

Upgrading Paladins involves enhancing your armories and managing your resources effectively. By focusing on these areas, you can improve your military capabilities in Elvenar.

Welcome along hun, yes agree with @Pauly7. I have loads of these but use more light melee, guess what? I have less of these LOL.

Good info above, but specifically in this case - You don't upgrade the squad size of one troop specifically. Don't look at the numbers of troops. 6 HM troops per squad is the same thing as 36 LM troops. If HM, specifically, are not effective, are you pitting them against the right enemies? Remember that your Paladins want to fight Heavy Ranged or Light Melee troops.

Thanks to you both for the replies - must admit I find the business of squads, units etc. a trifle confusing, hadn't realised that "a paladin occupies a size of 6" Why make it so confusing?
I had an idea that an armory upgrade was at least part of the answer - problem is the upgrade is larger, and I need an expansion to place it - and that means completing encounters - and I've run out of easy ones. I'll just have to train more troops and try harder I guess.

Those numbers are all going to increase, when your squad size increases, like so:

But as you will see, those ratios of actual troops in a squad is similar. It's meaningless, as far as I know.

Whether this is correct or not I don't know, but I was told that the squads "weigh" the same so fewer heavies are required to make the up same squad weight as lighties.
Apparently priests are bit on the podgy side :)

Thanks Jake - it's becoming a little clearer.

In my earlier reply I was in my mind confusing the armory with the barracks - it's that which is larger. When I click on the upgrade tab on the armory it only gives me the option to research, but it doesn't sav what? All the research items available require lots of diamonds which I'm not going to spend.

What this means is that you can't currently upgrade it. The button that says "research", means that you need to do more research before you can do anything else with it. If you click it, it probably just links you to the research tree (I can't remember). Once you have completed the next research which will be called something like "fancy pants armouries" (OK, not exactly that, but each chapter has an equally meaningless name), then the "research" button that you saw will be replaced with a button that says "upgrade".

in the first day of the game you gets some free trops but those troops if you not use them up dissapear into thin air, thats how the game made them, but your own trained units will stay with as long as you not used them. you not has that unit yet what was stronger and the game need yoou to unlock a stronger unit in research to be strong again. it shows diamonds for unlocking because you not has all the components what would be needed for the research to be complete so its offers the research to be completed for that, you in early chapter so it will ask for supply gold or some resource-what you not has that red, what you has that white in color.
