It would be good if the phoenix event returns next year so everyone can catch up with them. No, I don't see any point in having event buildings available in the crafting menu.

Well I guess for any new player joining the game (and let's hope there are some!) some of the event buildings are quite powerful even before evolution. Polar bear, for example, has already half of its maximum special effect available (a very handy reduction in tournament cooldown). I know when the last event started, I wasn't sure that I would be able to max out the brown bear, let alone spare artifacts for the polar, yet I still greatly enjoyed using the polar bear for a couple of weeks at level 1.

Maybe, but I think it's a little mean to say to those new players "hey you can craft these evolving buildings, but we won't let you evolve them." Also, what you are talking about doesn't necessarily apply to all the other evolving buildings.

Were Inno trying to do any of this trying to keep player happiness in mind then future artefact prizes would allow players to choose which artefacts they wanted.

True, but it's a bit premature to say that Inno won't let them evolve their buildings. I guess it depends what sort of roadmap they have for future (new) evolving buildings, but hopefully the number is not huge and meanwhile artifacts will continue to be offered as rare rewards for events such as FA. Maybe also as prizes for manufacturing challenges (please bring this back Inno!) which offer some advantages for newer players when expansions are cheaper and faster to achieve.

Also true, but then even if I had the artifacts, there are several that I wouldn't even place (pet food is, after all, a limited and expensive resource) :)

A few players in Beta will get new Interface features to test.
It is unclear as yet what these will be.
If you are one, please post screenshots!!

This popped up in Beta right now - obviously a promotion for the Winter Event - but that usually starts first week in December.

I am thinking that someone may have pressed the wrong button and posted this in error!

Sorry guys, the winter event was supposed to start today. But because of some technical issues with today's update it was postponed.
We forgot to postpone the offer.
So this is a not a bug.

And no i cannot tell you when the winter event will start exactly then, hopefully very soon.

The winter event announcement has just appeared. The theme seems to be A Christmas Carol.

It comes with some new game mechanics, and an evolving building - A gingerbread house.

It also mentions some other changes:
Based on your feedback from the Mermaids and Autumn Zodiac events, we have also made the following changes related to the event quests:
  • There will be two different parts of the event quest line. The first part will be regular event quests for everyone, the second part will be a bonus section. The regular section will contain randomized quests, but be less repetitive than before. This section is finite and set to end at some point. The bonus section follows right after and will contain significantly harder quests, while granting a relatively small reward. This is aimed at the players who managed to finish the quest line and are still looking to continue working getting even more Red Ribbons until the event ends.
  • The regular section of the quest line will not require productions of a building of a specific level. However, this quest condition remains in the game for future use. Additionally, these quests will still occur in the bonus section.
  • Quests that previously asked for a specific basic goods (tier 1) were partially replaced with quests that also accept crafted (tier 2) or sometimes even magical goods (tier 3).
  • It is no longer possible to have the exact same quest appear twice in a row.

Ok, these changes sound interesting. I like that the first sequence doesn't require chapter level buildings and that we can't get the same quest twice in a row. I like a lot that T2 and T3 will be part of the quests finally (whohoo!)
However not sure yet what to think of this: "The bonus section follows right after and will contain significantly harder quests, while granting a relatively small reward. " How much smaller? Are we going to have to solve 50 encounters to get 10 ribbons?
I guess we just have to wait and see when it starts, but sounds promising so far.

The new gambling system (because that's what it is) looks like even akin to that of a virtual casino than the previous "lootboxes" did, carefully crafted with the sole intent of confusing players. It's like RNG^ᴿᴺᴳ. One of the most unnecessarily convoluted lootbox systems I've ever seen in a game, congrats Inno.
So as far as I'm concerned what we're looking at here is one step forward (at least potentially, that'll depend upon the actual implementation of the new quests systems and the numbers tied to it), and three steps back. Safe to assume the intent behind this was to prevent those pesky players who figured which were the best chests to pick according to one's goal from achieving it. Absolutely appalling.

Seems like the event feedback was listened to, with some changes being put in to adress the issues.
Will have to see how it actually plays out before passing any verdict ;)

First I had no idea what @Vetrinus was talking about because I only read the quote and didn't click on the actual link, and now I see that the prizes system has been reworked completely, and it looks like hell o_O If I got it right we first have to get 20 pieces of the house and only then start with the artifacts? Unless the quests give us tones of ribbons I don't see how I will ever be able to have the gingerbread house at level 3 let alone at level 10. Also the prizes are completely random. This is not just about not getting an evolved grand prize. I can't even go for the boxes/days with the items I need for the game (spells, instants, boosters):(

The "get 20 pieces of house", which to use the proper description for this event would be "get 20 gingerbread bricks" is the equivalent of last event's "get twenty stars in the constellation". Every present you open gives a candy hammer, which gives 1-3 gingerbread bricks, just like every orb you opened last event gave 1-3 stars. It only sounds like there's another layer. I think...
