New Spire rewards

I’m chiming back in with some spire updates… feeling so so despondent. So I’m now four weeks without an armorer, troops boost buildings are so rare in my MA (which I know does happen from time to time), it’s seriously killing my spire.
I'm hearing you with that @Anni-Lizzie. ;)

I can't fight to the top without an insane number of troop boosts. We can only hope that the MA gives us more troop boosts soon.

Despondency has become SNAFU for my game play more and more often lately. We'll just have to grit our teeth and find a way through.

I just want to say re: The Spire Wizard - Firstly, I appreciate that it is an incredibly useful and well programmed tool for beginners. I have recommended it to many people. However, I will go on to say, when it first appeared I tried it several times, to make an assessment of its accuracy. It occurred to me that it only told me the exact same things my head wanted to do anyway. The only times it deviated from my own thinking were occasions where I think its calculations don't account for every single nuance and choice.

So what I am saying is, despite how great it is, once you are an advanced negotiator you will be better in the long run if you are making your own decisions.

The horrendous lack of time instants is killing trading in the merchant. Can’t get the trades in any kind of speed due to trade shortages before they start to decay
I am trying to understand this. Surely if there are less time instants then less people will speed up their merchants and therefore more trades should be available to be taken?

That all said, I also know that trading in the merchant has been horrifically slow and painful, especially as it should be server-wide. My only thought was that there must be very small numbers of players making it to those chapters and still playing.

The spire is eating the diamonds
Last observation... I don't normally ever feel the need to use a diamond to help with a Spire negotiation. The only time is when I only have a really tight time window to get it done, because it usually needs quite a few tries to pass those with 7 or 8 things.

If it is required in order to not further deplete other very scarce resources then I get that.

I totally agree @Pauly7. However, you are an amazingly talented player, particularly where the Spire is concerned.

For myself I must confess to not wanting to invest the time and effort it requires to become even half as good as yourself. :)

Viva la Spire Wizard !

Paradoxically, I have various other problems/issues with the game that mystify some players. Whereas in the case of the Merchant (I'm assuming we are talking Ascended Goods) I have no problem with timing when accepting or offering trades. Sometimes the pace slows, but I attribute that to my living in the southern hemisphere, and therefore missing some of the peak trading times.

Using Storm Phoenix and Magical Manufacturing to boost Ascended Goods production helps build up my storage. And now I have invested in the Ancestral Resting Place AW it has reduced the daily decay (theft).

I always enjoy your posts @Pauly7. :)

I wonder if everyone really has the same merchant trades visible. I've often wondered that about sentient trades too. The thing is with standard and sentient good, you can trade as much as you want.

I'm currently needing mostly T....... is it T8? It has silver balls, orange bricks and some sort of metal flowery things. I really should look up the names of these things. Anyway, I may often need 200-250k at once of one of those things, but right now I can trade 4,600 x 3 at a time. It is excruciating. Usually there are no trades to take. Occasionally there are a couple of 4600 trades or a couple of 2200 trades. If I'm really lucky there may be one of 11,000... But it still all takes an age.

Back to what was said earlier, and flip it on its head, maybe most people just use time boosters to bring back the merchant, which would mean no one gets to see the trade.

You're too kind, but there's no special secrets. Maybe it's because I have the advantage of learning negotiating before there was a Spire Wizard. It's just a simple set of logical steps. The most difficult part of it, in order not to spend too many resources, is knowing just when to quit and start again, or when it's worth continuing.

Anyway, I'm not knocking the Wizard. It's a great tool and it's there to be used, but I just wanted to mention there is sometimes a better way. I recall one of the problems was the Wizard not knowing how best to manage the resources which are in shorter supply. It can't know your individual circumstances.

Have you tried using the spire wizard for negotiating the spire @Anni-Lizzie? He certainly saves on diamonds. I get to the top every week using him and I use relatively few diamonds to do it.
Spire Wizard. What am I missing here? I hear people keep mentioning it but I haven't seen him/her/it/<any pronoun here> so far.
As for Diamonds, not worth the re-spend these days, just bite that bullet and try again. Spectral Stones only for the 2nd or last Boss and only if you are not going any further.

Merchant trading is pot luck. When you can only place 2-3 trades a day at a maxed amount, gaining 100k+ can be excruciatingly long process especially when you factor in decay within that 24 hours. Sometimes the only answer is speed up your trades to make the merchant available again in your playing window. And like @SkyRider99 , I too am in Australia so my playing time isn’t always optimal for trades. And I have the most common boosts… so everyone seems to be looking for what I want and no one wants what I have.

Here is what you are seeking. The Wizard, aka Dzesyi9, plays exclusively on the US server, and mainly posts on the Forum there.

I have just noticed that there are no Sips of clarity in the spire. :( I don't remember this being announced as one of the changes...
@Herodite @Silmaril can you confirm that they are gone?

The Spire has become very uninspiring for me. Most of the prizes I don't need and the few that I do (SF.RRs Blueprints, teleports and diamonds) I don't get.

On the other hand I get sooo many flower tomes. I have 20 in one city and 16 in the other and that's after 1 months of the new prizes. Are de devs even avare of how useless that is for 90% of players and how fast that's pilling up? Can that be replaced by a set of 1x1 buildings that includes the Gleaming blocks? Those are at least useful for FA and for all players that rely more on catering/diplomacy that fighting in their game.

I also get a lot of those virtue tomes. Granted the purple stone in it is quite useful but its only purpose is to climb the Spire and I'm kind of loosing interest in it fast.

@Herodite do you know when the Spire merchant is planning to make his apparence? I'm hoping that will bring something interesting to the Spire again.

Sips of clarity are in the team awards - 3 at the Bronze award.

I hear you about the flowers. I 'won' 4 of the things this week alone. Enough already.

I like the virtue tomes though; vitality surges are always welcome and I can use the occasional spectral stone.

You don't get spell fragments? Right now the Spire is paying me 20-30k of these a week. I am tired of them.
Sorry, I wrote it wrong, I meant RRs, not SF. I get buckets of SF but I had 600lk before the changes (almost up to 800K now) so the increase if SF wasn't something I was particularly exited about although I know that a lot of players are low on that, so I guess it was a good thing to increase it.

Agree with you Pauly7. 7K Spell Frags for a nice reward chest along with the 1K, 2K etc that you can pick up for beating each of the minions is really paying dividends. The lack of Diamonds has also been compensated for with Genies & Goddesses chucking out way more often than before. Unless our FS is on a Spire push then I for one will not be tempted to go to all the way to the top.
