New Spire rewards

Smiki

Alchemist
these changes remind me

instead of diamonds, sapphires - but the reward is the reward, even better than before ;)

instead of at the sea, swimming in a bathtub - but a vacation is a vacation, even more practical o_O

so isn't it great? it's just that we don't see that the latter is much better and we just complain. But they are here to listen to "some smart suggestions" and make everything easier for us :p:cool:;)

I thought that the cost of premium culture buildings in sapphires would be related to the cost in diamonds but it appears that it is completely random.

I would much prefer getting diamond rewards as I never build premium culture buildings anyway. I always have to use diamonds to get to the top of the spire but the amount has usually been topped up by the rewards. It looks like my diamonds are going to melt away in future.

I noticed in my 2 cities this last spire has given me mostly time boosts. I was very surprised as I thought they were being reduced.

Firstly - hey Smiki!
secondly… while they still require diamonds for expansions… then any ‘new reward’ is not a balance for me… its so hard to get map expansions. This just makes it harder.
And on climbing the spire. If some fellows that do negotiate their way up, then the lack of diamonds is a huge shortfall for them. If they don’t climb then the fellowship as a whole might not obtain gold at times and then not even get the 100 diamond prize. So in affect it will make the spire obsolete over time.

I thought that the cost of premium culture buildings in sapphires would be related to the cost in diamonds but it appears that it is completely random.
It looks to me like the ratio of diamonds/sapphires changes with the cost of the building,
56 diamonds - 20 sapphire (2.8 : 1) shrooms of joy
2576 diamonds - 200 sapphire (12.9 : 1) symphony of the swamp
6129 diamonds - 280 sapphire (21.9 : 1) garden party
So the higher the diamond cost, the lower the relative number of sapphires required. (it makes sense in my head, sorry if it's garbled here)

I'm assuming that the diamond cost has reduced overall but I don't know what these buildings used to cost in diamonds only.
Interestingly, Merdina's broomstick no longer costs any diamonds and only has a sapphire price tag (I bought one ages ago with diamonds, seemed like a good idea at the time)

Agreed. Replacing diamonds which can be used for a variety of things (heal troops, flip the MA, FA badges, expansions, etc) with a 'premium building only currency' is not a help in my opinion. Premium buildings lose their (edited) value anyway in a few chapters time so I doubt many get "bought" as such.

I'm not sure about the diamonds to sapphires ratio but what I found on discord is that for culture buildings starting from chapter 6 and up the ratio of sapphires per tile stays the same and it's 10:1.

It still costs 240 diamonds if you don't have enough sapphires to buy it. So basically once you have enough sapphires the diamond costs disappear.

Sadly, the Spire is now reduced to crafting ingredients for upgrading Ancient Wonders. I am missing the 5-hour time reductions very much. I need them for training my troops. The Spire was a big provider of those in the past, but it is not anymore. I am now coming out of the Spire with less time reductions than when I went in. And I am always going to the top! Would bringing the Moonstone Library Set back to the Spire for all the Spell Fragments be easier? Since the set was changed in which goods they give (depending on the boosted goods), they no longer cause any problems. We can easily open some flower shops with the number of flower tomes. Who on earth needs ten flowers or garden stones every week when they expire after 60 days? And they are still craftable in the Magic Academy!

I understand that changing the Spire was necessary to make it more attractive again.

The only question with the flowers is Disenchant for SF or Sell for whatever they are worth (sorry, don't know as haven't wasted my time looking). If the Spire keeps throwing these at me I might not bother anymore. 100 diamonds if your Fellowship can reach the top is asking a heck of a lot. The FS I oversee only has a few willing to go further than the 1st boss so it's unlikely I/we will ever see Diamonds here.

I use 5 hour timers exclusively for troop training and this has always been the main point of the Spire for me. (You're definitely not the only one lusting after them, @SkyRider99!) But I think it might not be quite as big a blow as we were anticipating, because there are other things that assist with troops numbers. 1) Simia got a boost with the AW changes, with the troop production bonus going from max 40% to 50% (not sure how that plays out at lower levels); and 2) more opportunities for vitality surges (an additional building that produces them, as well as offerings as event prizes) means you can reduce troop losses so there isn't as much repair needed at the end of the tourney. I'm cautiously optimistic that I'll be able to carry on as before - while acknowledging that it might be harder for cities in earlier chapters or those who aren't already well set up for fighting.

And after 2 weeks of the new Spire prizes my stock of SF is looking reasonably healthy again and AW upgrades above level 30 are starting to look feasible. (As well as round the clock crafting, which I never stopped doing.)
