  • "Brewery badge is also easier to get (instead of 50 beverages, we ask for 25). However, the waypoints require more of that badge now."
@anonglitch, for interest's sake, is the total number of beverages required for the 3 stages more or less.
I brew like a demon so it doesn't matter either way, just curious :)

  • The Coin Sack badge quest is a bit easier now (the coin number is reduced by 17%).
Given the kerfuffle on Beta over what was announced for Beta using identical wording, can you double-check that the above will be accurate for the FA?

First of all, for clarity : the new FA format is generally known as Version H or the map_h version. The previous version is known as G, or map_g.

There are usually no significant changes between Beta and Live, and there have been no official replies to Beta comments about the new FA format.

Considering these two factors:

1. The general consensus on Beta [amongst players who document/calculate Badge requirements and overall costs] is that the reduction in cost per Badge [of some Badges, most visibly Sacks of Coins] appears broadly to have been countered by the increased number of Badges required for full 3-Stage completion, across all types of Badge (other than Blacksmiths' Guild; see below) although this is more true in aggregate - i.e. including/averaging all Badge types and/or Chapter levels - than it is on per-Badge and/or per-City/Chapter basis.

Obviously the specific details will be difficult to determine, given that cost-per-Badge requirements are not consistent on a per-Chapter (and in some cases, in a more minor fashion, also per-City) basis and in the case of Sacks of Coins and Bracelets also do not even follow a smooth predictable upwards curve. It is probably very well known that the per-Badge cost of both of these is significantly lower for pre-Guest Race Cities, with Bracelets being cheaper by a dramatic margin than they are for advanced Cities, and at present this trend appears unchanged.

Furthermore, the non-consistent cost-per-Badge per City/Chapter of [in particular] Sacks of Coins, Bracelets and Elvarian Guard Badges makes it difficult to determine precisely which players will find aggregate/specific Badge costs to be greater, less than, or similar to previous costs. While these costs were crowd-sourced and accurately ranked by Chapter on Beta in respect of Sacks of Coins and Bracelets under the previous map_g FA format, this is quite a time-consuming endeavour and no suggestion has yet been made on Beta to undertake the same exercise again in respect of the new map_h FA format.

2. Sacks of Coins : In light of the increased total Badge numbers required, those Beta players reporting numbers have found that the total cost of producing this Badge is either broadly the same as before (best case), or may have increased in real terms by up to 10% (worst case), despite the [broadly consistent] 17% reduction in cost per Badge. Reporting players are usually in higher Chapters, so there may be some mitigation of this [perceived] effect (in Fellowships with a broad spread of City advancement levels) if the cost per Sack of Coins for early Cities has been reduced by an equivalent factor, as has been a recent trend in FAs (for Coins & Bracelets alike). NB : This may be because Inno seems to calculate Badge requirements on the basis of a theoretical 'average' Fellowship where there are Cities of many different levels of advancement.

3. Dwarven Brewery Badges : Again considering that full Beta data is not yet available, these appear to be much more numerically demanding than previously. The total number required on Beta for full 3-Stage completion was 335, which is an 80% increase over the previous FA format (map_g). Of this total, Map 3 requires 225, with a split per Path of 90/45/90. This implies that overall player online time may need to increase.

4. The only Badge type which has not increased in terms of total number required is the Blacksmiths' Guild Badge.

As can be seen from the above, Inno's FA Announcement does not give enough information to draw accurate conclusions on Badge costs.

I follow this topic closely, and to my knowledge there is no more concrete information than the above available on Beta with respect to the FA Badge costs/totals under the new format. I would also note that at least some of the Beta/Live players who maintain third-party Elvenar fan websites have said that they are working on updating their FA-related info and strategy advice, but may not yet have finished doing so; this is a major alteration to the FA format, with every Waypoint on every Map being adjusted, so accurately documenting it is naturally a lengthy task.

With the standard disclaimer that everything can/may change between Beta and Live (but remembering that this is rare), I hope this helps! :)

PS : @Jake65 : To get off my formal high horse for a moment and witter on about language for a bit : I really do love the online dictionary website I found, and immediately took to, after the OED Online took leave of its senses in [IIRC?] 2016 and declared that its "Word of the Year" was, er, the "face crying tears of joy" emoji - that infuriating grinning one, often nowadays drawn at a 45-degree angle for some reason, with tears coming out of the eyes, which isn't even used to express such a meaning, but rather to indicate something more along the lines of "the preceding comment is so ridiculous it's laughable" or, sometimes simply, "I am laughing like crazy"... even though, during the inevitable firestorm which erupted on their own Forum, the OED Online Editors were obliged to state that they would NOT be putting this 'word' into the Dictionary because, in their own words, "it's not a word". Incidentally, these were the very same individuals who saw the term 'cat café' on Twitter or somewhere like it, about three times, and put THAT into the OED Online, too... so I'd say that they really are a lost cause!

Anyway, on the topic of kerfuffling (OK, it's not a verb, but hey ho...), and from the very excellent, comprehensive, and broad-sourced database-type Free Dictionary website by Farlex (https://www.thefreedictionary.com/kerfuffle):

kerfuffle

Also found in: Thesaurus, Wikipedia.

ker·fuf·fle

(kûr-fŭf′əl)
n. Informal
A to-do or fuss: "Among the oldest corpses from which readable DNA has been extracted is a Neanderthal man. Imagine the kerfuffle if somebody managed to clone him" (Richard Dawkins).

[Scots, variant of curfuffle : cur-, intensive pref. (from Scots Gaelic car, twist, turn about, from Old Irish cor, a turn; see sker- in Indo-European roots) + fuffle, put into disorder (of imitative origin).]

... I myself love this word, being a Brit (although not a Scot), and I use it a lot. It's just so much fun! Gotta love Dawkins' quote, too... ^_^

Tougher than before, good luck everyone, 1 route per map plan just so fellows get the artefacts needed in my world.

We decided that teleporting half the city after every event for an extra 5h time booster is not worth it, we get plenty of fellowship experience every week already, as the specialist cities that just do adventures, this is for them. :)

At first glance; more effort for the same poor rewards.

What else is new Inno.
More complications, requiring more effort, for even poorer rewards?

I have a small cadre in my FS who are mad keen for FAs. The others like myself feel obliged to help our fellow members, even though we dislike the recurrent FA nightmares.

It would be better if Inno could make the FAs super easy to complete. The highest 'scores' could then be given to those fellowships who finish first. The rest of us could just smash out the badges and complete all the paths quickly, to end the pain. Just my humble opinion of course, expressed from a point of despair whilst waiting for the FA hammer to fall on Thursday.

FA is the most stressful thing in the game, causes more players to quit than anything else and more falling out in fellowships, on what is otherwise a very peaceful and relaxing game. These days I just do it for the players needing the artefacts, at one time those could be gained in the event, but not now sadly.:confused::(

One of my FS has decided on FA-lite this time. Just one route per map and stop at the end of map 3. The prizes are just not worth more effort or city disruption. Let those FS who somehow get 100,000+ points continue to do so, at no doubt great expense in diamond buying.

Except to say its version H or map H and the bit of detail about this badge increase and that one decrease I found 1 link to badges needed/colour/map/total. But I could not get a link to a detailed map showing each waypoint with badges. We needed the work out before time if we can afford to do waypoints or switch from one colour the next halfway up the map.

@Scarabaeu : I think this, below, may be what you're looking for? iDavis's explanatory Event videos are sometimes referred to by Inno, in-game, as 'our video' on the relevant Event, so whether or not he's working in parallel with them in some fashion is a moot point, but be that as it may, he's extremely dedicated and his website is a goldmine of useful info (e.g. it has a very useful list of Event buildings - and others - which is user-sortable according to their per-square values of everything from Pop/Culture to Resource production) and, increasingly, it also has functional tools like this.

Why something similar is not in the game UI (or Wiki) is beyond me, TBH... Inno's hardly a small-time company, and the FA does indeed NEED it.

Believe it or not, 100k is possible without diamond buying.
@Giraffi @foolfighter : Have you seen this post by @Qertusa, plus the next few posts discussing how low-Chapter Cities (particularly special builds) are so disproportionately capable of producing Bracelets, while larger Cities often struggle to produce one or maybe two per day, certainly without City alterations/Teleports and a LOT of Time-Boosters? - taken from @BlueBlou's ongoing Forum record of top FA scores across all Servers.

The post has a link to a German Forum thread, where one of the Exodus Fellowship on DE4 explains how they scored over 200K (in an older FA Format) without Badge-buying. They set an initial target of 3,000 (!!) Badges per player... within a broader set of strategic plans. Fascinating reading.

The preparation and dedication required to break the 200K barrier without spending is truly astonishing, albeit something I myself would never do!
