Recently had some musings on designing a GR mechanic around the roads of the city...
Wanted to produce some interesting effects on the existing streets. Maybe parades. Maybe commercial traffic. Maybe commuter traffic. Maybe people passing resources hand-to-hand.
Maybe the standard Chapter Street upgrade comes early and you have to upgrade your existing streets. Or, for better effects, maybe you have to run a GR-specific street (but also counts as a regular street so you can still place buildings on both sides of the street) parallel and touching your existing street, thus either having parallel separate graphics, or allowing for a different effect on the double-wide thoroughfares.
Maybe you have to place production outbuildings at least n squares from the portal building, and either while producing, or when collecting, the parade, or the traffic, takes place. Maybe the production has a bonus when it is farther away.
Maybe the GR is a block party, and you are placing various stalls along your existing roads, and patrons are wandering between the stalls. Food stalls, Entertainment stages...
