My Spire Improvement Suggestion.

Just saying but round 1 of the new 6 cycle and I've used up my 6 goes at trading in 5 broken shards for 1k radiant stones. I've nowhere near finished my tourney, probably do that tomorrow, where I will miss out on another bunch of broken shards from round 6 of x number of provinces. :(

I have to admit that I shouldn't complain as previously these 30 would have also gone to waste.
So I must thank Harold for enabling me to put 30 to good use :)
Hoorah for Harold I say. I get a bit greedy and snaffle all the goods I want too quickly. The five week wait seems like an age, but Harold is a great addition to the Spire. :)

I decided to rename my city to better reflect my current proficiency :(

It would make a good name for a pub

Turns out RNGesus saw the name change and took pity on me, gifting a sturdy orb that did not break.
Circle complete, upgrade in progress, level 2 here I come :D

...you can also simply check here when a new cycle will begin...

I won't say why, and I don't think we should discuss why, but the VoE is an obstacle, rather than a gift. I don't mind how long it takes to complete.

My gripe with the Spire has been decided democratically: not enough of a fellowship uses it. This proves there is barely a point in using it.
(This applies a bit to tournaments as well.)
This means that a few members do their duty, and the rest of the fellowship just sticks their toe in, and gets the rewards. I don't have a gripe with them doing that, but Really? Sometimes I would like to be the guy at the bottom.

The gifts at the top and up the spire are too heavily biased towards formulaic useless 5% coin rains and 2hr instants. When I got to the top last week, I got 30 Eldians. Not bad if you're a chapter 3 neophyte, but when Harold's shop needs 100 to buy a Tower of Unity evolver, and blocks you from exchanging them anyway, you start to see an inequity. I feel this could be improved by making the gifts equal value, or giving choice.

Then we could see some sort of group participation. That's a very simple change.

I know that the dev team must be rather small, given the number of customers on the 3 maps.

It would be fun if the tournament or spire had branches in it, like FA, but that would be too much to ask for.

Certainly not the case for all fellowships. If your team doesn't have the participation that you would like, this is the problem to address.

Personal spire rewards can be underwhelming if you're unlucky, but what is more valuable are the team rewards, and these are more guaranteed. If your team isn't participating in the Spire, as aforementioned, you are never going to be able to get much out of it.

I think that Fligigel's point is that participation in the Spire is hindered by the rewards at the top which he thinks are too poor to encourage people to play. He proposes that if the gifts were of equal value or if there was choice, then there would be more group participation. I think its therefore a chicken and egg situation. The group isn't particpating so they don't get lots of rewards, and because there aren't many rewards, the group doesn't participate.

Getting to the top of the Spire can cost an inordinate amount of Resources if you Negotiate or Troops if you Fight. The rewards on offer certainly don't do anything to encourage participation for those who are not geared up for it.

If the Fellowship in question is more of a casual group of players or has a lot of fellows who can't spend a lot of time working on Resources/Troops then I can understand the problem. For the Spire you only get out what you are willing to put in. For the Tournament then Yes, there are those who can/will do the minimum if there is no incentive for them to do more.

@Fligigel it might be time to consider a more active Fellowship if you are looking for a better cost/benefit return on your investment.

There is a problem with fellowship atrophy, and better players don't want to stab their old fellowship in the back, and move to a mythical gold fellowship. I don't know how many there are on each map, because the participation stats aren't shown - only the score. At the time my archmage recruited me, he thought his fellowship was pretty good, then there were deaths, heart bypasses, strokes, and we dropped to 10 chests. Typically 3 make the top of the Spire, but making the top doesn't doesn't really input much extra score to the group.

Our group is just struggling to find anyone else. The young players around, play the game incorrectly and won't answer hails, for fear of being put under pressure.

I'm going to have to try more novel methods of recruitment

You can see exactly how many teams got gold by looking at the Spire tab. You can also open the front page of any fellowship and see how many gold, silver or bronzes they've won

How do the young players play incorrectly please? I agree it's difficult trying to recruit new members who will fit in to your fellowship's game style. I expect you have tried all the usual recruitment methods, so good luck in the future!

The typical way new players play incorrectly, is by attempting to make all goods and be self sufficient. This might be appropriate for older players, but it creates very slow new players, who don't trade, which leads to frustration in other new players who can't trade, because everyone is offering 5k to 10k, or nothing.

I tried a new instance of the game, and it does make an attempt to point out that some goods are boosted, but it obviously doesn't ring an alert for some new players, because at the time you get this message, I believe the boost is very low. There needs to be a compulsory quest, around chapter 3 to point this out.

Unfortunately, the trade system is embarrassing because your name is on the trade. It's embarrassing to ask for something all day, and have nobody pick it up, except an old player, who's doing it for no obvious reason. It's difficult to guess why they do it, because they don't answer emails.

Thanks Fligigel, I understand what you are saying now about playing incorrectly. When you start Elvenar there's so much to take in that some messages get lost.
