Question merc camp

after reading all the comments am still confused which isnt hard to do lol, i auto fight and i cater for the tourny and my only goal is to help get to the tenth chest and get kps for research any thing else is a bonus. I have used merc camp at times just to see but honestly i just perfer the others, i seem to have upset some which wasnt my aim, and the the person who said because of the lay out of my city i must only play rarely I dont i log on ever day My city suits me but i must admit once i finsih this race i will be doing a little remodeling. thank you to all that answered but i am still confused lol

Are you by any chance an app player? I ask, because I usually see this confusion when the player plays in the app, not in the browser. My rationalization is, that it’s because of the lack of military info we have in the app. The barracks troops are all-rounders, so it’s not hard to understand them simply by using them - by trial an error. The Mercenary camp troops are mostly specialists and one needs to actually look at their stats to understand them. Otherwise it just seems to the player that they behave weird and they are unreliable.
I’m an app player and I had to read a lot on wiki and forums and memorize quite some info before I could successfully use Mercenary troops. App player can’t just click on an unit before the battle and check some detail. The info is just not there at all. We are learning the battle system half blind.

Yes that is what I meant with "rarely", once a day That is what it looks like. I guess I should have been more specific.

And don´t worry, nobody is offended we´re just having fun discussing different angles, so we tend to disagree a lot on everything!

As I said before (I think) if you don´t have any ambitions of improving and you don´t use it now, go and delete it, you can always rebuild it again later when you do decide to improve...

O, I don’t think you upset anyone, don’t worry about that. Having read the forum for a while now, some do like to comment from their perspective and it can be some finer detail where they disagree with a previous comment or want to clarify on it. Also remember that we all do not have the same game state or the same desires of what we want to achieve. Like @kimkimkim said, you are doing fine.

Lol, all that probably still don’t help you in your decision to keep it or not. I would keep it seeing as you have invested in it for so long and it does give you extra troops that you can possibly use when your other types are low in numbers. Keeping your options open so to speak. Although, these days one can get 3 of the 5 groups from culture event buildings.

To do what you are doing you would probably cope just fine without it. If you're looking to save the space and only need a couple of thousand tournament points, then why not.

As @FieryArien says the troops are specialised, so with the Merc Camp you keep your Mages to fight the HM, your LR fights the Mages, etc. What surprises me most, though, is that you have the Training Grounds and prefer that over the Merc Camp. The only big argument I can see for that is if you say you train tons of Orc Strategists, which are great units. Most people don't train them much, though, as they cost regular Orcs to build them.

But for general purpose I would always pick the priest over the blossom mage, unfortunately as an elf I am not in the position to choose the priest over the elf.

As an only-elf-Orc I have no experience using Priests, but I would agree with this, if I was a human-Orc I would use Priests mostly. The one thing where Blossoms really win, is the direct duel. I don´t mind fighting priests with my Blossoms
Well the blossoms higher base damage is great because it gets boosted with the boosters which is probably more useful (because of first strike) than the Priests higher base HP that gets boosted with UUU/DA.
The convenience of making the Priests in the barracks is their biggest advantage I find.
