Question Granite and copper - what to do?

RaviTheStout

Alchemist
Coming to the end of Ch6: I have read that we get rid of the Dwarven portal and will be replaced by another guest race.
What about granite and copper and all the mines? ie is it used in the future and I should stock up? Or just make what I need right now?
TIA!

the copper and granite mines are not used again until chapter 23. Personally, I wouldn't suggest putting them back into your inventory, as I think your portal spells can be put to much better use. Also, it's not only the dwarven race buildings you will need again, there are another 3 races and from chapter 6 too chapter 23 is a long way off. They are easy enough to rebuild when you get there, by that time, it's more about the amount of space you'll need. Just make what you need as you go through each chapter, would be my advice.

It used to be that you needed granite and copper if you want to build dwarven roads. Did they change that now?

It looks like it - dwarven street uses marble, steel and planks

I read that there was a quest to get rid of the dwarven portal and was wondering how any remaining copper and granite would be stored as it's curremtly stored in the portal (with a max capacity)

I thought they did change it. In the old days you needed those particular guest race goods to make the street from that chapter. If you ran out you could never build any ever again, so we'd stock up a bit before deleting a portal.

Weirdly, the game still tracks whatever resources you have got in your inventory. If you delete the guest race portal it just stops telling you how much that you have, but it still exists in the background.

By the same token, my small city that has no barracks, Merc camp or training ground still has troops. The number still exists. I just have no way to check how much is in my inventory.

Each street type has better stats than the last. However, sometimes we just like to build ones that look nice, or which fit, thematically, with certain areas of the city. I don't like my current chapter's streets and I don't think I will use them at all.
