Glory of Phoenix - new event on Beta

The phoenix just lost some of it's azureness
Some pet food and a bit of elbow grease and it's azureness is returning ;)

My Azure is currently level 3 (I usually only place maxed evolvers but I made an exception here) and I thought that being marble week I would give it test run.
The Azure's 19% point boost equated to an extra 2038 tournament points which in turn gives me 28532 orcs from the Shrine of the Chumpions.
A pretty good deal for a single pet food.

If I listen to Jake65, then this pet is more aimed at higher level players than it is at lower chapter players.
In my opinion this pet is a great asset to players at all levels. For the same amount of troops or resources you are going to get more tournament points, and pet food is often available to craft in the Magic Academy.

In my opinion the Azure Phoenix isn't useful for any player. In fact it is a hindrance. I'll come back to that.

However it is useful for fellowships of all sizes. Arguably more useful for small fellowships - It is a much greater leap to turn a 9th chest into a 10th chest than to turn a 15th chest into a 16th chest.

For individual players, all it does is give increased bragging rights for finishing higher up in the global tournament rankings. It also gives a paltry handful of ranking points (if they finish in the top 100 on the server) which is negligible to any developed player, even if they place first. Even those benefits don't really exist though, because most of the regular players also have an Azure Phoenix.

So what does this bird do? It makes everyone use one or more extra pet foods each week in order to be able to stay in the same position that they were in before. It just makes team tournament prizes easier to come by.

I think this was the case last week. Overall, the scores seemed to be much higher than usual. My 'normal' score had me in a lower position than I expected.

So what does this bird do
More orcs if you have a Shrine of the Chumpions :)

If you have an Enar's Embassy, you get so much mana per tournament point. If the amount of your tournament points is increased due to having the Azure Phoenix, then I thought that my mana may also be increased. However, from what Pauly7 said, you don't get individual points but points for the fellowship. Presumably this means the amount of my mana won't increase due to my having the Azure Phoenix? Sorry if this point was already covered while I was inactive.

The question for me is: when is it best to feed your Azure Phoenix, given that the feeding lasts only 24 hours? If most of the points go to the fellowship, I think this will happen at the end of the tournament. Will you still get these points if the bird has been fed during the tournament but it is not in active feed mode when the tournament actually finishes?

You do get extra individual points and additional resources that are linked to your tourney points.
Only things like AW boosts, but you don't get the extra KP, rune shards, other prizes that would come from actually scoring those extra points.

The feeding effect only has to be active whilst you are fighting/negotiating each tournament encounter. Then the extra points are locked in.

Assuming you haven't maxed out a D111-a Time Warp and a Polar Bear, thereby allowing you to blitz the Tournament in a few minutes (not sure of the exact timeframe as I am not in this position), but assuming you do have the D111-a Time Warp at a reasonable level (Say 3.x hours between rounds) then I would wait until the 1st full day of Tournament that you can be active for.

If you can do Rounds 1 & 2 on the day it starts and the rest the day after you should get the maximum points within the 24 hour timeframe.

Thanks Valedoress. That's helpful. Makes me wonder though. I don't have a maxed out Time Warp or Polar Bear, but if I did, would I get the 20% reduced duration from feeding the polar bear as well as a tournament cool-down time of 1 hour and 36 minutes? I am not sure of the maths on this, but it may be 96 minutes minus 20% = 76.8 minutes??

If your Polar Bear is maxed there is no tournament cool down. Correction: In conjunction with the Timewarp, a maxed Polar Bear removes the cool down.

Ever since the most recent changes to AWs, the bear doesn't have to be maxed. Mine is level 9 (keeping t there to get the supply instants instead of PPs) and my TW is Lv 31. And I think it would work even with a lower LV TW (29-30) or lower level bear if the TW is high enough. There is some room for wiggle now which is good for those players how haven't collected all the bear artifacts yet.
