Glory of Phoenix - On Beta from March 6th.

The Glory of Phoenix has arrived in Elvenar, bringing together two ancient traditions in a celebration of art and competition. Throughout the realms, whispers spread of a magnificent phoenix being carved from ancient stone, its form slowly emerging day by day. The Nomads and the Cult of the Phoenix have set aside their differences, each bringing their own interpretation of beauty to honor these magnificent creatures, and each hoping to influence the final form of this grand sculpture. At sundown, the grand plaza fills with an intriguing mix of wandering artisans and devoted cultists. While the great stone phoenix takes shape, smaller works of art appear around it - delicately painted eggs that seem to shimmer with their own inner light. Each contribution, each painted symbol and carved detail, will ultimately determine how the grand phoenix statue manifests at the festival's end. There's more to this festival than mere decoration, though. Both the Nomads and Cultists have their own trials and traditions, each testing participants in unique ways. Whether you follow the practical wisdom of the Nomads or admire the mystical approach of the Cultists, your choices will leave their mark on the emerging phoenix. So, what do you say? Ready to join this celebration where ancient rivalries transform into artistic inspiration? The unfinished phoenix watches over us all, probably amused by how its presence can turn even the fiercest debates into shared admiration.

Players on discord-beta are quite worried about the feeding effect of the bird (gives a percent to tournament points won depending on the building's stages). Personally I don't care about scores and competing but it does seem that players who'd get their hands on a few of these birds (=buy them) would be forever at the top of the ranking list and I can understand if quite a few players are upset by this:

Should this say "the Azure Phoenix's pet effect gives a percentage extra to tournament points won"? To be fair I struggled to decide how to word that properly, but I think I know what it means.

This will inevitably be true, but I wonder if it really matters at all. These are the players that get 30-40k tournament points or more. They have already probably spent a lot in opening extra provinces. In my 8 and something years of play I've opened up enough provinces to score me 23-24k points at the maximum.

You need to play through 89 full provinces in the tournament to score 24,030 points. Each extra province available could give an extra 270 points, but also, generally you need to unlock 9 more provinces to have those extra points (one of each type). In order to score 40,230 points, that means 149 provinces would have to be completed. That's an extra 60, which means that player needs to unlock 540 extra.

This means.... and there is no point trying to do exact maths here... In order for me to achieve that same score I need to do, approximately, an extra 15 and a half years of scouting, real time.

Further to that, those last 60 provinces would require such an eye watering amount of troops / goods / time boosters, so as to be barely conceivable by the normal person.

It is easy to look at it and think wow, 40k points is impressive, but maybe I could increase my PB one day from 24k to 40k, but no. No you can't, unless you are willing to plough a large amount of money into the process.

My point is, those same insane tournament players will maybe start to duke it out between them at 50k-60k points, instead of 30k-40k, but the average player will probably still be playing for the same 8th or 9th best on the server that they are now.

With the Shrine of the Champions AW, tournament points = Orcs.
Depending on how many orcs the increased points deliver, it could be worth giving the Phoenix the space of two orc nests.
I'm looking forward to it :)

I doubt this will make any difference, to be honest. The whales already win the tournament every week, and their scores just keep increasing as they open up new provinces. There's no way any of us non-whales are going to catch them so it doesn't really matter if they're scoring 70k instead of 50k. (And they do go on holiday occasionally, so there's a chance to win then!)

Obviously this Pet's production will be in line with the players Chapter but listing Ascended Goods and Mortar (from Chapters way higher than mine), this is designed to catch the attention of said 'Whales'. Worth a look for sure but this jury is still out as I haven't quite deciphered the whole text around it.

The feeding effect of Azure Phoenix, at level 10, boosts tournament points gained by 35%. So I suppose whosoever has 3 of these birds can double all their usual tournament scores, if they have the pet food for it.

Mostly my thought is that I don't much care. I was considering going all out in order to get two Phoenixes, but then... Is my life going to get better if I get some positions higher on the tournament leaderboard? Personally, it does nothing for me. For a team, it's good. If there were Fellowships still not getting 10 chests, now they will. There will be a massive number of teams now able to get 19 chests, so they'll no doubt need to create more.

Working on 35% (Thanks @Pauly7 ) and assuming the Azure is 4x4 ........
My Shrine gives 14 orcs per tourney point. With a tourney score of 7000, the Azure would add 2450 points to that.
Which equates to 34300 Orcs extra per week.
2 Orc Nests (also 4x4) give a total of 28000 per week so an increase of 6300 Orcs for the Azure in the same space.

With the Shrine and the Azure working together, every 100 tourney points will equate to 490 Orcs for me.
This will certainly help to address any Orc shortage, now to figure out how to deal with the added stench

It is always interesting how games differ. I have about a billion orcs and I can't get rid of them. I do have two Orc Nests (mostly just for show), and I have 2 armouries, neither one is fully upgraded.

and assuming the Azure is 4x4 ........
Yes it is 4x4, and it looks like this at Chapter 15:

If fed in the last 24 hours of the tournament, does the % increase apply to one's total for the whole tournament or only to the points earned while the feeding effect is active?
Curious about the one day duration.

Pauly7

Manipulator of Time
I imagine that it only counts towards points won during the 1 day that the boost is active for.

That's what I'm thinking now seeing the duration.
Ignore my calculations above, those are based on a full week for me.
The phoenix just lost some of it's azureness
