Are we suppose to create our own thread for logging the hearts we find?

Another question, more hearts will be posted through out the day after when the competition started?

Hi Colleen -

No, all hearts have already been hidden and are ready to be found by you all. :)

The competition will close at 23:59 GMT on February 14th (tomorrow!)
, so you will need to hunt quickly!

Well, if I don't win any diamonds, at least I've finally managed to plough through every single post on the forums now:

So, uh... thanks for the motive I guess? :p

Seriously though: It was very fun especially towards the end. Those last moments before you either succeed or you don't. Did your eyes play tricks on you in a crucial moment? Fortunately they hadn't, but it did have me slightly on the edge of my seat at the end. I saved a certain thread for last... And guess where I got lucky to find the final piece? :D

Haha! I'm glad your feed is officially cleared now. :D

Hmm. The final piece...share with us when it ends? ;) I would love to know which heart was the hardest to find. :p

These events benefit people who have coding knowledge as they can simply search the source code of each thread for the terms "blue" and "red". The hearts are linked as <img src> codes.
Still some manual input required but certainly a much quicker progress than scrolling and looking for hearts.

I sincerely doubt that there can be a fair winner in this competition!

Well in that case let my assure you, I spent a good 3h 30min checking every thread and every page manually. I understand your point/concern though, as I have been wondering similar myself.

I'll be sure to let you know later. :) There is one difficulty I can tell you about now though:
Barti's signature had me halt in my search countless times... :D

Seriously Lame idea!
This Valentine search...I'm speechless.
This is so cynically lame...I'm flabbergasted.
Let me guess the scenario...
1st developer: "Ere wake up 2nd developer we need to do something for valentine."
2nd developer: startled out of hibernation.."what happened, have all the members started mutinying yet?"
1st developer: "No we need to do something for valentines"
2nd developer: "You woke me up for that? ...Just get the girl in the coffee shop to do it, or your daughter. How old is she now..?"
1st developer: "12"...."Are you serious?"
2nd developer:"I'm sure she can think of something, now let me go back to sleep and only wake me up for something important.."

Well, there will be three winners, plus it's not guaranteed that someone who finished early has won all the points. Mistakes happen easily to those who work against time.

I acknowledge your point though about the event appearing to be on a "first come first serve" basis. I would be in a similar situation as you if I hadn't dropped by the forums to see if I had any new alerts at 1am before going to sleep. Turned out I went to sleep a couple hours later than planned (thankfully it's Sunday).

Perhaps it could be recommended to announce this type of event earlier, as in a couple days before, both on the forums and in-game? Just so people are aware and can possibly make the time to participate from the very start. Unfortunately this would also give more time for those who can make use of the "exploit" @Zzzyk mentioned to prepare for it. That is, unless the details aren't fully explained until the event actually starts. A hint that it's a race against time, as well as when and where the event is to take place would be all that is required in a prior announcement in my opinion.
