Broken Shards

Silmaril

The Mabinogion Wyvern
Elvenar Team
This is intended, as Broken Shards can be used for Crafting, as well as for creating Runes. As an aside the Knowledge Point Bar is only intended to hold 10-20 Knowledge Points (depending on whether an Inspiring Meditation is cast) and to also offer a temporary space when winning Knowledge Points. Its design was not to create a permanent holding space, as this means 24 Knowledge Points a day are missed.

New enchantment suggestion:
The Broken (or Interrupted) Meditation. When cast, allows up to 20 broken shards to be collected.

Thanks for your very quick reply. I understand what you are saying .i.e. that's the way the game is run, but it's so annoying getting rewards that you can't benefit from.
It's very rare that I can use broken shards for crafting. Perhaps the amount of crafting recipes using broken shards could be increased?

Reading back on comments posted last December about the new Spire changes, I came across one about how having one or more Twilight Phoenixes really helps in fighting. I wondered why I haven't got one. I discovered that I only have 5 artifacts so I would only get 4% of units healed (and the bird is so ugly at this level). I also noticed that the healing only works when pet food is applied. However, the pet food only lasts 12 hours.
So I wonder about a few things. 1. How did some people manage to get more than one of these phoenixes and, more importantly, enough artifacts to maximise them? and 2. how do they get enough pet food to last for the length of the Spire? Do they use time boosters to race to the top in 12 hours? If so, how do they get so many time boosters? Is there a shop somewhere selling all this stuff that I have not yet found? Or is there something else that I have missed entirely?
I also think I read that the ressurection of units now only applies if there are a few left. This makes the bird even less attractive to me. Comments/corrections would be welcome.

Some people got more than one base (with or without artifacts to evolve them) in the original event, either through luck - winning extra currency - or by spending money. Then the bases were offered for sale at one point, for 1000 diamonds - a bargain, IMHO. Artifacts have been obtainable in the Spire and through crafting. During phoenix events, there's usually the opportunity to craft artifacts for older phoenixes by exchanging artifacts from the current event. Then there are phoenix tomes, often given as prizes during an FA after the phoenix event, which allow you to choose the artifact you want. I've used all of these means to fully evolve two birds after the initial event. It takes time, but as is frequently said, this game is a marathon, not a sprint.

I only feed mine for the tournament so can't comment on how people use them for the Spire.

And yes, they only revive wounded troops. If an entire squad is lost, those troops are considered to be dead and can't be healed. But the increase from 5% to 10% revival more than makes up for it.

So I wonder about a few things.
1. Getting more than one evolved would require spending diamonds/money or lots of luck. I got enough artefacts to max my one and I see I have another 8 artefacts in my inventory. I'm guessing these were spire or FA rewards, I'm definitely not a spender (don't tell Inno ;) )
2.1. I use two pet foods for the Twilight to climb the spire. Up to the first boss it goes hungry then one pet food each for the next two levels. I use timers for the small gates but I don't (or very seldom) timer the boss's 12 hour gate.
2.2. Within these two levels, I feed the Twilight and timer the first gate. Come back later when the 2nd gate has opened 'naturally' and then timer the third gate and finish that level.
2.2. A lot of timers come from the spire itself. Also the FA. Otherwise just being frugal with their use in general gameplay helps.

Thanks Minerva and Jake. I found an artifact in my Tome of the Phoenixes which I hadn't yet used, but that still only gives me 6 artifacts, so still only 5% of my defeated troops would get healed. I need to wait tll I get more artifacts before downloading this bird. However, I did find an artifact for the Place of Convergence, which is the last one I need to be able to max this building, so I may download that instead. I was thinking of doing so before but I really don't understand how it works, despite reading about it on the forums, etc. It looks like you get a bonus of 3 cc.s if you are at the maximum evolution level and you use the transcendence effect. I find this transcendence effect quite confusing but I expect I will get to understand it. However, if anyone has this building can they please advise about the 3 x cc.s. Is this a one-off bonus for every time you transcend, or how often do you get these cc.s?

Harold's shop will be the best option once it hits the Live Servers. 5 Broken Shards will net you 1,000 Radiant Stones. You can do this each week of the Spire as well so that should suffice for most Tournament & Event players.

I have to agree with the MA comment though, while we can spend them on crafting this option does not come around that frequently. Perhaps the Mods/Devs could advise exactly what the frequency is for Slot 2?

Transcendence just happens if you evolve the building to the last level of 7. But it expires after 110 days, after which you have to use Volatile Sigils to revive it, say for example for an FA, because the revived version only lasts for 10 days.
Thanks. I am at level 7 but I still don't understand about the cc.s. When do you get these i.e. how often? What do you have to do to get them? Is it only when you add transcendence days, and does the transcendence effect need to run out first? The cc.s are a major reason for my having the building, and so this is an important question for me.

So long as the building is transcendent (The first 110 days is given, then subsequently each extra 11 days costs you 10 Volatile Sigils to buy), then this building will give you 3 CCs per 24 hours and it will also give you a bonus to its own 24 hours goods production. Just don't imagine it is a 175% boost like it claims. Inno (made up) maths applies.

How did some people manage to get more than one of these phoenixes
As with any decent evolving building out there, players exist who have 2, 3 or more fully evolved birds. To get a second bird for free relied on luck, but in some events not the massive amount of luck that some people imply. There are quite a lot of events where I've scored enough points to pick up the second base (generally one or two grand prizes, or 20-40 points, beyond winning the 9th artefact). Your odds are very much increased by calculating which chests (etc) are the best for advancing towards more artefacts and sticking with the system. It is then perfectly conceivable to pick up an extra 2 artefacts for being in the gold league, and an extra one from a subsequent FA. You can even get as far as picking up one spare during the event itself, if the RNG gods are with you, and if it isn't one of the events they made bolt hard. When the artefacts appear for 6 weeks as a Spire prize it then isn't uncommon to win 6-8 more there. Plus of course some appear to be crafted in the MA if you are super lucky. So, as you can see, as long as you got the second base in the first place it is not too hard to evolve it, in time.

Me, the only duplicate I ever placed was my second Brown Bear. The other evolving buildings, I have built them all, but never a second, even though I have several spare bases. Some artefact types I reached up to 15 in the inventory, having already fully evolved the first. I have disenchanted all the spares now, given that Inno maintains you're never going to be able to convert them into universal artefacts or anything.

And the one last thing to mention is that there are a lot of players that will spend a lot of real money in order to get multiple buildings. We can see it in the current event and we certainly saw it in the Twilight Phoenix event.

Twilight Phoenix or not, I normally do the whole Spire in one go and the whole tournament in one go. I am impatient and want to get it done, but also it saves on pet foods. I don't always feed the Twilight Phoenix. It depends if I'm trying to save troops or if I am having a big tournament. I don't find it super necessary for The Spire.
