Seahorse event

Maybe it's just my luck but on this seahorse event on both of my worlds the drop rate to get any buildings seems far worse than any other event I've done since I started the game, I save up just for days when a building is the daily reward and get no buildings. Am I just unlucky or the drop nerfed?

I don't seem to have a problem here. How much event currency have you spent? I usually get around 20 buildings per event, sometimes less, sometimes more. If it's really bad, I'd contact Support to have a closer look at it.

I haven't played this one yet, as my desired building was Day 1 and I'm saving up to do a blitz with Rerolls, but for this event, do we get presented with 3 random Rings from all 9, or are we always given a 1, 2 and 3 ring?

I currently have a 1, 2 and 3 step on offer. I'll keep tabs when I move what gets presented.
I have noticed near the end of the stage I only get offered enough to complete the stage. I have had 3x 1s at that point. There's no carry over to the next stage as with the other formats.

Yeah, that's how I thought this event worked....

More observations:

EG, the 3 Hoops are #s 5 & 7 (out of 9) towards Grand Prize & Leagues, so not that great. (and 4&5 for Dailies)
LLF, the 3 Hoops are #s 2 & 4 (out of 9) towards Grand Prize & Leagues, so better/good. (and 7&9 for Dailies)

So, if you went for 3's in LLF, while you would be progressing on the map more, and possibly more efficiently, you would definitely be seeing lower efficiency at getting Dailies.

Also, if you were actively trying for Dailies in both events...

Best Choice for DailyEG (Ring) oddsEG Overall Daily OddsLLF (Ring) oddsLLF Overall Daily Odds
1(30) 25% = 25%2.75%(31) 25% = 25%2.75%
2(58) 75%*33% = 25%4.75%(21) 25% = 25%2.25%
3(28) 25%*66% = 16.6%1.33%(27) 25% = 25%2.25%
4(78) 50%*66%*50% = 16.6%4.00%(55) 25%*33% = 8.33%1.33%
5(77) 50%*66%*50% = 16.6%3.50%(50) 25%*33% = 8.33%1.08%
6(25) 25%*33% = 8.33%0.58%
Total16.33%10.24%

LLF returns a Daily about 38% less often, on a Ring by Ring basis, if following current best practice picking to optimize for Dailies. So, you definitely feel, on a click-by-click basis, that you are getting fewer Dailies.

But, the real question is what is the overall efficiency based on currency?

Best Choice for DailyEG (Ring) oddsEG Overall Daily CostLLF Ring
1(30) 25% = 25%7.5(31) 25% = 25%7.75
2(58) 75%*33% = 25%14.5(21) 25% = 25%5.25
3(28) 25%*66% = 16.6%4.66(27) 25% = 25%6.75
4(78) 50%*66%*50% = 16.6%13(55) 25%*33% = 8.33%4.58
5(77) 50%*66%*50% = 16.6%12.83(50) 25%*33% = 8.33%4.16
6(25) 25%*33% = 8.33%2.08
Total52.4930.84

LLF costs about 42% less, on a Ring by Ring basis, if following current best practice picking to Optimize for Dailies.

Put together, if you started with 6,000 currency...

EG 6,000 / 52.49 = 114.307 Rings * 16.33% = 18.66 Dailies
LLF 6,000 / 30.84 = 194.553 Rings * 10.24% = 19.92 Dailies

So, you get fewer Dailies per click, but you get more clicks, and by the end, you end up with roughly equal, or slightly more, Dailies for equal overall currency.

But, as pointed out earlier, in this iteration of the event, the 3 Rings are so inefficient at giving Dailies that you will always have a better choice available, so every 3 Ring you select is a decrease in your overall Daily total.

Inno seems to be standardising Event mechanics; it's becoming the norm for no 'steps' along each Grand Prize stage to be carried over. And while this does [at least in theory] reduce the possible number of attempts at the 2- and 3-'step' Chests, I do find it an easier and more rational system.

I don't know about "standardizing"... This appears to be the way the Seahorse Steeplechase and Sorcerer Hiking events behaved from their introductions, while the other events, like Phoenix Sprints and others didn't and so far still don't.

Also, have you been reading the info on the latest Event in Beta? There are some new twists, quirks and added RNG goodness being baked into this variation, which make this quite a bit away from "standard".

True, true. But then : Inno moves not only in mysterious, but also verrrry slow ways, its wonders to perform... I do suspect that, one way or another, we'll end up with more or less standardised Event systems - efficiency and saving of labour, and all that - but you're right; they're not there yet!

Oh yes! I actually LOVE that kind of game - especially because Inno hasn't built in the usual very frustrating [and revenue-driving] limitation of most such games on mobile phones these days, so the version we'll see will be fun! And although we can't discuss it here yet, because of the Evil Spoiler Monster (boo, hiss, etc.), I'm much looking forward to what you can make of the RNG chicanery that's going to be involved... :)
